Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ibarmia ZMS4 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Ibarmia ZMS4 is the medium-size member of the Z series of moving-column machining centers that takes SK-40 class tooling, built around the tilting ZS head. Its spindle is listed at 46 kW (61.7 hp) and 12,000 rpm, and the tool holder is a choice of SK-40, BT-40, HSK A-63 or CAPTO 6. X travel is built to order, up to 12,000 mm (472.4 in).
The cross-section of the work envelope is far smaller than its length. Y is 800 or 1,000 mm (31.5 or 39.4 in) and Z is 800 or 900 mm (31.5 or 35.4 in), so this is a machine for long parts, or for several shorter ones set up side by side along the fixed table. Because the column travels and the table stays put, the part's weight never rides on an axis.
Ibarmia counts the ZS head as 4 axis movement. It is a continuous tilting head with a torque motor, swinging +/- 120º on the B axis. The fifth axis comes from a rotary table, either integrated in the fixed table or bolted on in a vertical or horizontal orientation, so what the machine can reach depends on the table ordered with it.
Two versions share the ZMS4 name. Z Extreme is the milling machine. Z Multiprocess adds turning: Ibarmia lists built-in rotary tables from ø800 mm to ø1200 mm that carry up to 6000 kg and turn at up to 800 rpm, plus horizontal chucks up to ø630 mm running at up to 3000 rpm. Grinding cycles and gear cutting functions are listed for the Multiprocess as well.
The ZMS5 keeps the same travels and moves to SK-50 class holders with 43 kW (57.7 hp) and 8,000 rpm. Pick the ZMS4 when spindle speed matters more than the size of the tool interface.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 46 kW (61.7 hp) and 12,000 rpm on an SK-40 class spindle, the higher-speed option among the medium-size tilting-head models
- X travel is built to order, up to 12,000 mm (472.4 in), on a fixed table that carries the part without moving it
- ZS head tilts continuously through +/- 120º with a torque motor, so vertical, horizontal and angled faces are reached in one set-up
- Tool holder is a choice of SK-40, BT-40, HSK A-63 or CAPTO 6
- The Z Multiprocess version turns as well as mills, on built-in rotary tables from ø800 mm to ø1200 mm
Limitations
- Y stops at 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and Z at 900 mm (35.4 in), a slim envelope next to the X travel on offer
- The head alone gives 4 axis movement; full 5 axis machining needs a rotary table added to the configuration
- Ibarmia's page gives no spindle torque, rapid traverse, table load or magazine capacity for this model
- Tooling is limited to the SK-40 class interfaces; the SK-50 class starts with the ZMS5

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The ZS head provides X, Y, Z and a B axis that tilts +/- 120º, which Ibarmia describes as 4 axis movement. Simultaneous 5 axis machining comes from combining that head with a horizontal or vertical rotary table. Integrated and bolt-on tables are both offered, so the fifth axis is part of the configuration you order, not a fixed feature of the base machine.
02
Up to 12,000 mm (472.4 in). The Z series page lists the available travels in steps: 2200, 3000, 4000 and so on up to 12000 mm. The tool magazine travels with the carriage that makes the longitudinal movement, so a tool change can happen at any X position and a long machine doesn't lose time driving back to one end.
03
Extreme is the milling version. Multiprocess is the multitasking version for turning and milling. For it Ibarmia lists built-in rotary tables from ø800 mm to ø1200 mm with loads up to 6000 kg and speeds up to 800 rpm, and horizontal chucks up to ø630 mm at up to 3000 rpm. The axis travels and spindle figures printed for the ZMS4 are the same on both pages.
04
The two share their travels and the ZS head. The ZMS4 takes SK-40, BT-40, HSK A-63 or CAPTO 6 holders and lists 46 kW (61.7 hp) at 12,000 rpm. The ZMS5 takes SK-50, BT-50, HSK A-100 or CAPTO 8 holders and lists 43 kW (57.7 hp) at 8,000 rpm. Fast work with smaller tools points to the ZMS4; large cutters and long boring bars point to the ZMS5.
