Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK NT-50/60 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Tooling is what changes on the HNK NT-50/60. This 5,000 mm (196.9 in) table machine is the first in the NT series to take 60 x 60 mm (2.4 x 2.4 in) tool shanks, where the NT-40/50 and every size below it use 40 x 40 mm (1.6 x 1.6 in). A heavier shank carries a longer overhang and a bigger insert, which is what a 6,000 mm (236.2 in) swing demands.
The table drive is A.C 155 kW (207.9 hp), against A.C 100 kW (134.1 hp) on the NT-40/50. Load goes up only a little, from the 50,000 kg (110,229 lb) of the NT-40/50 to 60,000 kg (132,275 lb) here, and the top table speed is unchanged at about 50 rpm in two steps. In other words, the extra power is for cutting at a larger radius, not for carrying much more mass.
Turning height is 3,000 mm (118.1 in). The cross rail moves 250 mm (9.8 in) x 7 steps. X travel is -200 to +3,300 mm (-7.9 to +129.9 in). The ram may be 300 x 300, 350 x 350 or 400 x 400 mm (11.8 x 11.8, 13.8 x 13.8 or 15.7 x 15.7 in), with a ram head Z travel of 1,300/1,500/2,000/2,200/2,500 mm (51.2/59.1/78.7/86.6/98.4 in).
Control is listed as Fanuc 31i-B, Siemens 840D. For loads beyond 60,000 kg the NT-60/70 is rated at 150,000 kg (330,688 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 60 x 60 mm (2.4 x 2.4 in) tool shank, the first NT size to have it
- A.C 155 kW (207.9 hp) table motor
- 6,000 mm (236.2 in) swing with 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of turning height
- X travel to +3,300 mm (+129.9 in) from centre
Limitations
- 60,000 kg (132,275 lb) table load; the NT-60/70 is rated at 150,000 kg (330,688 lb)
- Largest listed ram is 400 x 400 mm (15.7 x 15.7 in); larger sections start with the NT-60/70
- About 50 rpm maximum table speed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
60 x 60 mm (2.4 x 2.4 in). The NT-40/50 and all smaller NT machines list 40 x 40 mm (1.6 x 1.6 in), so existing tool blocks from a smaller HNK lathe will not carry over without adapters.
02
The main motor for the table drive is A.C 155 kW (207.9 hp). HNK prints a single figure under a cont/30min heading, with a maximum table speed of about 50 rpm in two steps.
03
A 5,000 mm (196.9 in) table, a maximum swing and cutting diameter of 6,000 mm (236.2 in), a turning height of 3,000 mm (118.1 in) and a load of 60,000 kg (132,275 lb).
04
HNK lists three ram sections, 300 x 300/350 x 350/400 x 400 mm (11.8 x 11.8/13.8 x 13.8/15.7 x 15.7 in), and five Z travels from 1,300 to 2,500 mm (51.2 to 98.4 in). The page does not name a standard, and Z travel is a starred row, so both are fixed at order.
