20,000 kg (44,092 lb) is the figure that defines the HNK NT-25/30. This CNC vertical turning lathe has a 2,500 mm (98.4 in) table and 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of swing and cutting diameter, and it carries far more than the 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) of the NT-20/25 one size down.
The drive does not change with the load. HNK lists the same A.C 45/55 kW (60.3/73.8 hp) motor, cont/30min, as on the NT-20/25, and the maximum table speed falls to about 130 rpm in two steps. Heavy work at this diameter is turned slowly, so the lower ceiling costs little on steel forgings and castings. It does limit small-diameter features cut near the centre of a large part.
Vertical capacity is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of turning height. The cross rail travels 250 mm (9.8 in) x 4 steps, one step more than the smaller machines, and the ram head has 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z. In X the head moves from -200 to +1,700 mm (-7.9 to +66.9 in). The ram is 240 x 240 mm (9.4 x 9.4 in) with 40 x 40 mm (1.6 x 1.6 in) shanks.
This is the last NT size with a single listed Z travel and ram section. From the NT-30/40 up, the table offers several of each. Control: Fanuc 31i-B, Siemens 840D.
