Overview
The Hermle C 52 U is the largest 5-axis in the Hermle C-series, offering the biggest envelope while maintaining trademark precision. It handles workpieces up to 1,000 mm diameter and 1,500 kg.
X/Y/Z travels are 1,000 x 1,100 x 750 mm with A-axis +/- 115 degrees and C-axis 360-degree continuous. This is substantial volume for 5-axis simultaneous contouring.
Standard spindle is 15,000 rpm at 29 kW on HSK-A63, with options to 42,000 rpm. Tool magazine holds 42 positions, expandable to 160. Chip-to-chip approximately 4.5 seconds.
Rapids are 40 m/min on all linear axes. Positioning accuracy +/- 0.006 mm, repeatability +/- 0.003 mm. Weight approximately 20,000 kg. Same modified gantry and mineral-cast base.
The C 52 U handles large aerospace structural components, energy sector parts, and large mold bases. Competes with DMG Mori DMU 100/125 and Makino MAG series.
New $700,000-$1,100,000. Used 2015-2020 trade $450,000-$700,000.
