Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Alzmetall GS 600/5-T that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Alzmetall GS 600/5-T is a compact 5-axis machining center: 460 × 600 × 400 mm (18.1 × 23.6 × 15.7 in) of travel, an HSK-A63 spindle and a table rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb) including the clamping set-up. The two rotary motions are an NC swivel axis (A) and a rotary axis (C), listed with 3-fold torque drives.
The envelope is not square. X is the short axis at 460 mm and Y the long one at 600 mm, so a part that is long in one direction should be laid out along Y. Alzmetall also gives a spindle distance of up to 550 mm (21.7 in), which is more than the 400 mm Z stroke. The spec table does not say between which surfaces that distance is measured, so check it against your tallest fixture and longest tool before counting on the clearance.
Tool storage is generous for the size. The standard disc magazine holds 40 tools, and two larger magazines are listed: a twin-disc magazine with 76 positions and a rack-type magazine for 224 positions. The bigger GS 1000/5-T starts with 33 tools in a chain magazine, so the small machine actually leaves the factory with more pockets.
The X-Y carriage runs on 2-fold linear guidance and the Z axis on 4-fold, inside a frame of grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron. Heidenhain TNC 7 is the standard control, with Siemens SINUMERIK ONE as the option. Coolant at up to 80 bar, kinematics gauging, an infrared 3D touch probe and a tool setting system are all listed as options, so none of them should be assumed on a base machine.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Disc magazine with 40 tools as standard, expandable to a twin-disc magazine with 76 positions or a rack-type magazine for 224 positions
- NC swivel axis (A) and rotary axis (C) run on torque drives, listed as 3-fold, so there is no gear train between motor and axis
- HSK-A63 spindle taper, the same interface as the GS 1000/5-T and GS 1200/5-T, so holders carry over between those machines
- 4-fold linear guidance on the Z axis in a frame of grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron
- Heidenhain TNC 7 as standard, with Siemens SINUMERIK ONE available as the option
Limitations
- X travel is 460 mm (18.1 in), the shortest of the three linear axes, which caps part size in that direction
- The 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load includes the clamping set-up, so the vise or fixture counts against it
- High-pressure coolant up to 80 bar, kinematics gauging, the 3D touch probe and the tool setting system are options, not standard equipment
- The listed figures give no spindle speed, power or torque, so cutting capacity has to be confirmed with Alzmetall for the spindle offered

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 460 mm (18.1 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) in Z, and the table carries 500 kg (1,102 lb) including the clamping set-up. The listed figures give no table diameter or swing circle, so the largest part that can be tilted on the A axis has to be confirmed with Alzmetall.
02
40 in the standard disc magazine. Alzmetall lists two larger options: a twin-disc magazine with 76 positions and a rack-type magazine for 224 positions. All of them serve the HSK-A63 spindle. Maximum tool diameter, length and weight are not among the listed figures, so ask for them if you run long or heavy tools.
03
Heidenhain TNC 7 is the standard control and Siemens SINUMERIK ONE is listed as the option. The choice is made at order, so settle it against the control your programmers and post-processors already support.
04
No. High-pressure coolant up to 80 bar is listed as an option. The measuring equipment is optional too: kinematics gauging, a 3D touch probe with infrared transmission and a tool setting system. Specify them at order if the work involves deep drilling, in-process probing or regular checks of the rotary axis positions.
05
The GS 1000/5-T is the larger machine, with 800 × 800 × 600 mm (31.5 × 31.5 × 23.6 in) of travel and 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) on the table, against 460 × 600 × 400 mm and 500 kg here. Both use HSK-A63 and both come with Heidenhain TNC 7 as standard. The GS 1000/5-T has a 33-tool chain magazine where the GS 600/5-T has a 40-tool disc magazine.
