Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fadal VMC 8032 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Eighty inches of X travel is the reason the Fadal VMC 8032 exists. Its table measures 81.5 x 30 in (2,070 x 762 mm), X travel is 80 in (2,032 mm), and Y and Z are 32 in (813 mm) and 30 in (762 mm). It is the longest 40-taper machine Fadal lists, and it stretches the VMC 6032 without changing the cross-section: the VMC 6032 has 60 in (1,524 mm) of X on the same Y and Z.
Long-bed verticals are often used two ways, and the figures support both. One long part, such as a rail, a beam section or an extrusion, can be machined in a single clamping. Alternatively the table can be split into zones, with the operator loading one end while the spindle works at the other, although Fadal's page does not describe a pendulum arrangement and the enclosure layout should be checked for it.
The extra length costs little in rating. Table load is 4,840 lb (2,195 kg) and machine weight is 34,600 lb (15,695 kg). Rapids are 787 ipm (20.0 m/min) in X and Y and 590 ipm (15.0 m/min) in Z, so a full-length X move takes several seconds; on long parts with tools working at both ends, traverse time becomes a visible part of the cycle.
Fadal lists the spindle as CAT-40 at 10,000 / 15,000 rpm, with 220 ft-lb (298 Nm) and 22.5 hp (16.8 kW) peak standard. The 15,000 rpm spindle appears in the option list, so treat it as an extra. Tool data differs slightly from the shorter machine: maximum tool length is 11.8 in (300 mm) and maximum diameter 5 in (127 mm). The table gives the tool capacity as 24 / 30 / 40, and the standard feature list names a 24 tool dual arm tool changer. The footprint is 218 x 118 x 132 in (5,537 x 2,997 x 3,353 mm).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 80 in (2,032 mm) of X travel over an 81.5 x 30 in (2,070 x 762 mm) table
- Table load of 4,840 lb (2,195 kg) for long, heavy workpieces
- 32 in (813 mm) of Y carried on quad box ways with full way contact at full stroke
- Enclosed work area lit by a bright LED work lamp and light tubes, with four chip augers
- Coolant through the spindle can be ordered complete or as head prep only
Limitations
- At 218 in (5,537 mm) long, or 272 in (6,909 mm) with the chip conveyor, it needs a long bay
- X and Y rapids of 787 ipm (20.0 m/min) make end-to-end moves slow
- Maximum tool length is 11.8 in (300 mm), shorter than the 13.8 in (351 mm) of the VMC 6032
- Fadal's table gives no tool change time for this model
- Standard spindle power is 22.5 hp (16.8 kW) peak on a table that can hold 4,840 lb (2,195 kg)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel is 80 in (2,032 mm) and the table is 81.5 in long by 30 in wide (2,070 x 762 mm). Y travel is 32 in (813 mm) and Z is 30 in (762 mm). The table carries up to 4,840 lb (2,195 kg).
02
In the table, largely yes. The VMC 8032 has 80 in (2,032 mm) of X and the VMC 6032 has 60 in (1,524 mm); Y, Z, rapids, ballscrew diameter and the standard spindle figures match. The longer machine is rated for 4,840 lb (2,195 kg) on the table and weighs 34,600 lb (15,695 kg), where the VMC 6032 is rated for 4,400 lb (1,996 kg) and weighs 32,400 lb (14,697 kg).
03
The table row reads 10,000 / 15,000 rpm. Fadal's text describes a 10,000 RPM CAT 40 dual belt transmission with 220 FT/LBS of torque, and a 15,000 RPM spindle is listed among the optional features. A Very High Torque Spindle (VHT) is optional too, and the table shows 300 ft-lb (407 Nm) and 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak as optional figures.
04
Yes, as options. The list includes a 4th axis servo disconnect, which the rotary tables require, the FR-12D rotary table and a manual-clamp tailstock with quill for the FR-8D, 10D, 12D and 15D. On a table 81.5 in (2,070 mm) long, a rotary table and tailstock can stay mounted at one end with vises at the other.
05
218 x 118 x 132 in (5,537 x 2,997 x 3,353 mm), length by width by height, and 272 in (6,909 mm) long with the optional chain type chip conveyor. The machine weighs 34,600 lb (15,695 kg).
