Overview

The Hartford HSA-736 has a table of 7,000 x 3,000 mm (275.6 x 118.1 in) that carries 27,000 kg (59,524 lb). It is a double-column machining center with 7,000 mm (275.6 in) of X travel and 3,600 mm (141.7 in) of Y.

Twenty-one square metres of table is rarely filled by one part. More often the machine runs as two or three stations, with a different job at each end, or with one part being cut while another is clamped and indicated. The 60-tool magazine option supports that way of working, since each job brings its own tools.

As an x36 model it has both ballscrew supports as standard, X because the machine is above 5 meters and Y because Hartford fits it to the x36 series. Three linear guideways carry the table.

The spindle is #50. A gear head at 6,000 / 8,000 rpm, a DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm and a built-in spindle at 12,000 rpm are listed, with a 15 / 18.5 kW motor and options of 18.5 / 22 kW, 22 / 26 kW and 30 /37 kW. Z travel is 780 mm, optionally 1,000 mm or 1,200 mm. Hartford's Z-axis nitrogen counterweight is said to reduce oil temperature by 50% and save more than 20% energy.
