Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford Aero-2232BL-5X that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A table of 2,200 x 2,700 mm (86.6 x 106.3 in) and 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y travel make the Hartford Aero-2232BL-5X wider than it is long. X travel is 2,200 mm (86.6 in). It is a gantry type 5-axis machining center, the wide one of the two compact Aero 5X models.
This is one of the few Aero 5X tables with a power row. It lists a built-in spindle at 24,000 rpm in HSK-A63 and 12,000 rpm in HSK-A100, and gives 37 kW against the HSK-A63 and 43 kW against the HSK-A100. Hartford shows an HSK-A63 5 axis head for the model and describes the lubrication of the spindle as oil-air.
The drive is what Hartford calls the L type, a linear motor, with the stated benefits of no backlash and high machining efficiency. With no screw to wind up or wear, a linear axis follows small, fast direction changes closely, and that is what five-axis contouring of pockets and ribs consists of.
Base and table are cast in one piece. Z travel is 1,100 mm, or 1,300 mm as an option; the Z axis has a twin ballscrew design and a nitrogen counterweight. The table rating is 5,000 kg/m², and the magazine comes as an S type for 30 tools (40 optional) or an A type for 40 (60 optional).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Built-in spindle: 24,000 rpm in HSK-A63 with 37 kW, 12,000 rpm in HSK-A100 with 43 kW
- Linear motor (L type) with no backlash
- 2,200 x 2,700 mm (86.6 x 106.3 in) table under 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y travel
- One-piece base and table casting, twin ballscrews on Z
Limitations
- X travel is 2,200 mm (86.6 in)
- The taper row reads #40 / #50 while the shanks are HSK, which needs clarifying
- No swivel angles for the head in the table
