Overview

The Haas GM-2 is a large-format gantry mill: 145 × 87.5 × 22 in (3,683 × 2,223 × 559 mm) of travel over a 144 × 72 in (3,658 × 1,829 mm) table rated for 6,000 lb (2,722 kg). The table is wide enough for full-width plate that the 53 in (1,346 mm) tables of the GM-1 and GM-1XT cannot hold.

It is also the taller machine. Z travel is 22 in (559 mm) and the spindle nose sits between 4 in (102 mm) and 26 in (660 mm) above the table, where the GM-1XT has 16 in (406 mm) of Z. That opens the machine to moulds, weldments and fixtures with some height, as well as plate.

Haas's feature list for the GM-2 names twin X-axis ballscrews, augers for chip removal, a free-standing control pendant and the GM/UMC spindle head assembly.
