Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ganesh GEN TURN 36-CS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The GEN TURN 36-CS is a sliding-style CNC Swiss machine that runs without a guide bushing. The bar is gripped in the main spindle collet and cut close to it, so the machine avoids the ground bar stock and long remnants that a guide bushing demands, and gives up the very long, slender parts that only a bushing can support. Bar capacity is 1.25 in (32 mm) as standard and 1.375 in (36 mm) with an adapter.
Seven axes are listed. The main tool slide travels 7.28 in (185 mm) in X, 6.50 in (165 mm) in Z and 19.29 in (490 mm) in Y, and the maker stresses that this is a true Y axis, not a compound one. That long Y stroke is what lets a single slide carry the OD tools, the ID tools and the live spindles in a row and bring each of them to the part. The sub-spindle has its own 11.53 in (293 mm) of X and 11.61 in (295 mm) of Z for back working.
Main spindle power is 10 HP and sub-spindle power 5 HP, both through a 2:1 pulley ratio from 3,000 rpm motors to a 6,000 rpm spindle. Live tooling consists of 4 ER-20 cross slide spindles at 2.0 HP (1.5 kW) and 3 ER-20 front slide spindles at 1.0 HP (0.75 kW), all limited to 4,000 rpm. Expand Machinery counts 27 tools in total.
The sub-spindle collet chuck holds 1.250 in, but only 1.080 in (27.5 mm) passes through it, which matters for long parts ejected out the back. An air blast nozzle, a finished parts ejector, a parts catcher and a parts conveyor belt are included, and the chip conveyor is included too. Rapids are 1,181 ipm (30 m/min). The machine weighs 8,000 lb (3,628 kg) and draws 63 amps at 220 VAC.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- No guide bushing, so bar stock does not need to be ground and remnants stay short
- True Y axis with 19.29 in (490 mm) of travel on the main tool slide
- Live spindles on two slides: 4 ER-20 cross slide tools at 2.0 HP (1.5 kW) and 3 ER-20 front slide tools at 1.0 HP (0.75 kW)
- Parts catcher, parts ejector, parts conveyor belt and chip conveyor are included
- 1,181 ipm (30 m/min) rapids in X, Y and Z
Limitations
- Without a guide bushing, long slender parts lack support; Z travel is 6.50 in (165 mm)
- Live tools are limited to 4,000 rpm
- Sub-spindle pass-through is 1.080 in (27.5 mm), below the 1.25 in (32 mm) bar capacity
- Sub-spindle motor is 5 HP against 10 HP on the main spindle

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Expand Machinery builds it as a CNC Swiss machine without a guide bushing: the main spindle collet holds the bar and cutting happens next to the collet. That removes the need for ground bar and shortens the remnant. The trade is support for long thin parts, and main Z travel is 6.50 in (165 mm).
02
The standard maximum is 1.25 in (32 mm), and 1.375 in (36 mm) with an adapter; the drawtube bore is 1.456 in (37 mm). Collet noses are Brown & Sharpe #22 or Traub A-32. The sub-spindle grips 1.250 in in its collet chuck and passes 1.080 in (27.5 mm) through.
03
The live tooling table lists 4 ER-20 cross slide live tools at 2.0 HP (1.5 kW) and 3 ER-20 front slide live tools at 1.0 HP (0.75 kW), with a maximum of 4,000 rpm. ER-20 collets take shanks up to 1/2 in. Fixed tooling is 6 OD tools and 5 ID tools with 25 mm bores.
04
On the main side X is 7.28 in (185 mm), Y is 19.29 in (490 mm) and Z is 6.50 in (165 mm). The sub-spindle travels 11.53 in (293 mm) in X and 11.61 in (295 mm) in Z. Rapid traverse is 1,181 ipm (30 m/min).
