Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ganesh GEN TURN SL-32ABY that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A programmable B axis is what separates the GEN TURN SL-32ABY from the other hybrid Swiss machines in the range. Four ER-16 live tools sit on a swivelling unit that Expand Machinery describes as fully programmable. They run at up to 5,000 rpm and work on both the main and the sub-spindle. Angled holes and features that would need special angled holders on a fixed tool post are cut with standard tools here.
The machine takes 1.259 in (32 mm) bar. Both spindles are integral-motor units with a full C axis, each rated 7.5 HP on the 15-minute duty rating and 3.5 HP constant duty at up to 6,000 rpm. A TD32S rotary guide bushing gives 10.23 in (260 mm) of turning length in one stroke. Without the bushing the figure is 3.93 in (100 mm), and bar from 1/4 in up can be run.
Tool count is high. The maker gives 20 available tools for the main spindle and 21 for the sub-spindle, with 13 live tools for the main spindle. In the table the main side has turning holders of 16 mm (5/8 in), internal bores and deep-hole bores of 25 mm, and 3 ER-16 cross spindles at 8,000 rpm besides the B-axis unit. The sub-spindle side adds its own turning holders, 4 ER-16 cross spindles and 5 ER-11 axial live tools, all at 8,000 rpm.
Rapids are 1,181 ipm (30 m/min) on all six linear axes, quicker than the 944 ipm (24 m/min) of the GEN TURN SL-42Y2. The control is a Mitsubishi M830 with a 15 in screen. Plan for cutting oil only in a 106 gallon (401 L) tank, a footprint of 122 x 81 x 83 in (3,108 x 2,046 x 2,100 mm) before the chip conveyor, and 10,960 lb (4,970 kg) on the floor.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4 ER-16 live tools on a programmable B axis, usable on both the main and the sub-spindle, at up to 5,000 rpm
- Integral-motor spindles with full C axis, 7.5 HP 15-minute rated, on both sides
- ER-16 cross spindles and ER-11 axial live tools run at 8,000 rpm
- 1,181 ipm (30 m/min) rapids on all six linear axes
- Mitsubishi M830 control with a 15 in screen
Limitations
- Bar capacity is 1.259 in (32 mm); larger bar needs the GEN TURN SL-42Y2
- Constant-duty spindle rating is 3.5 HP
- B-axis tools are limited to 5,000 rpm, below the 8,000 rpm of the cross spindles
- Cutting oil only, in a 106 gallon (401 L) tank

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It swivels a unit of 4 ER-16 live tools to a programmed angle, so holes and milled features can be cut at angles other than axial or radial. Expand Machinery describes the 4 tools as fully programmable B-axis live tools. They reach 5,000 rpm and can work on the main spindle and the sub-spindle.
02
Maximum barstock diameter is 1.259 in (32 mm) on both spindles. Without the guide bushing the range is 1/4 - 1.259 in (5 - 32 mm). Collets are TF 37, closed by a hydraulic cylinder on both spindles, and the guide bushing type is TD32S.
03
Expand Machinery gives 20 available tools for the main spindle and 21 for the sub-spindle, including 13 live tools for the main spindle. The table breaks that into turning holders of 16 mm (5/8 in), internal bores of 25 mm, ER-16 cross spindles, ER-11 axial live tools on the sub-spindle side and the 4 B-axis tools.
04
On the main spindle the listed capacity is 13 mm drilling and M10 tapping, with 10 mm drilling and M8 tapping for the cross tools as an option. On the sub-spindle it is 10 mm drilling and M8 tapping.
05
220 VAC ±5%, 3-phase, 60 Hz at 80 amps, 30 kVA, and air at 85 psi and 6 cfm. The machine measures 122 x 81 x 83 in (3,108 x 2,046 x 2,100 mm) without the chip conveyor and weighs 10,960 lb (4,970 kg).
