Overview

Fooke designed the ENDURA 400LINEAR for shops that live mainly in plastics. The Fooke ENDURA 400LINEAR is the smallest compact gantry in the ENDURA range: a 5-axis milling machine with 2,700 mm (106.3 in) of X, a choice of 2,000 / 3,000 mm in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z, for large workpieces in plastics, CFRP/GFRP, modeling block material and aluminum.

Its spindles show the intent. The page lists milling heads 10 and 11 only. Milling head 10 carries an HSK-A63 spindle of 24 kW at 21,000 rpm with 39.1 Nm. Milling head 11 offers 20 kW at 30,000 rpm with 21.5 Nm, or 34 kW at 24,000 rpm with 40 Nm. None of these is a roughing spindle for ferrous metal, and cast iron and steel are absent from the material list. For those, the Fooke ENDURA 700LINEAR adds milling head 4 with a 42 kW, 67 Nm option.

The structure differs from the larger compact models as well. Bed, side walls, gantry and Z beam are all stress-relieved welded steel, with no cast components named. That keeps mass down, which suits linear motors: X and Y run at 5 - 90,000 mm/min and Z at 5 - 80,000 mm/min, with acceleration up to 5 m/sec².

Accuracy is slightly looser in X than in the other axes, 0.020 mm against 0.015 mm, with a position scatter of 0.015 mm in X and 0.010 mm in Y and Z.

Fooke pays attention to keeping parts clean. Guides and counterweight cylinders have a collecting system for excess lubricant so that workpieces are not soiled, a detail that matters on laminate and on model surfaces that will be painted. The machine stands on an industrial floor approx. 200 mm to 300 mm thick without a special foundation.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • X and Y feed rates of 5 - 90,000 mm/min with acceleration up to 5 m/sec²
  • Milling head 11 offers a 30,000 rpm spindle with 20 kW, or 34 kW at 24,000 rpm
  • Welded steel structure with water-cooled linear motors in X, Y and Z and torque motors in A and C
  • Stands on a steel-reinforced industrial floor approx. 200 mm to 300 mm thick, without a special foundation
  • Direct measuring systems in all axes (X, Y, Z, C and A)

Limitations

  • X travel is a single 2,700 mm (106.3 in); there is no longer option in the table
  • Strongest listed spindle is 34 kW with 40 Nm, and cast iron and steel are not in the material list
  • X position accuracy is 0.020 mm, looser than the 0.015 mm of Y and Z
  • Tool changing, tool measuring and dust disposal systems are optional equipment
06

Best For

Large plastic and CFRP/GFRP parts Models in block material within 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z Light aluminium milling at up to 30,000 rpm Surfaces that must stay free of grease and oil

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the working area of the Fooke ENDURA 400LINEAR?

The technical data lists 2,700 mm (106.3 in) in X, 2,000 / 3,000 mm in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z. The page's summary line quotes travels up to 2,500 x 3,000 x 1,200 mm, which does not match the X row, so confirm the X travel with Fooke.

02 What spindles are listed for the ENDURA 400LINEAR?

Two heads. Milling head 10 has an HSK-A63 spindle with 24 kW, 21,000 rpm and 39.1 Nm. Milling head 11 has HSK-A63 spindles with 20 kW, 30,000 rpm and 21.5 Nm, or 34 kW, 24,000 rpm and 40 Nm. Both heads pivot 550° (+/-275°) in C and 220° (+/-110°) in A.

03 Can the ENDURA 400LINEAR cut steel?

Fooke does not list it for steel. The range of materials on the page is plastics, CFRP/GFRP, modeling block material and aluminum, and the maker calls it highly efficient for plastics processing. The Fooke ENDURA 700LINEAR is the compact model whose page names cast iron and steel.

04 What does the ENDURA 400LINEAR need for installation?

Fooke states that, because of the self-supporting machine bed, a standard steel-reinforced industrial floor approx. 200 mm to 300 mm thick is sufficient. The machine is set up and aligned by fixations bolted to the floor.
