Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Tongtai HTT-500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Tongtai's HTT-500 puts a 500 x 500 mm (19.7 x 19.7 in) table on a DD direct-drive trunnion and gives it 800 mm (31.5 in) of X and Y travel and 830 mm (32.7 in) of Z. The table carries 500 kg (1,102 lb). It is a five-axis machining center whose rotary axes are fast: A is listed at 50 rpm and B at 100 rpm, over ranges of -120~+20° on A and 360° on B.
A direct-drive table has no gear train between motor and axis, which is what allows rotary speeds of that order. Combined with 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z, it means little time is lost repositioning between faces or following a tilted tool path.
The built-in spindle is BBT40, 15,000 rpm and 249 Nm (184 lb-ft). Power depends on the control: 37/18.5 kW (49.6/24.8 hp) with Fanuc and 35/25 kW (46.9/33.5 hp) with Siemens. The torque figure matches the 249 Nm that the THA-5000P lists for its 15,000 rpm No. 40 spindle, and that machine has the same 500 x 500 mm table size, so the HTT-500 brings comparable cutting capacity to five-axis work.
Tool storage starts at 60 and can be ordered as 90 or 120, with tools up to 12 kg (26 lb). The control also sets the level of five-axis capability. Tongtai lists the Siemens ONE with a 19 in screen as full 5-axis, and the Fanuc 0i-MF Plus (15 in) and Fanuc 31i-MB (10.4 in) as 4+1 axis.
Plan the floor space early. The listed dimensions are 3,386 x 8,075 x 3,177 mm (133.3 x 317.9 x 125.1 in) in width, depth and height, and the machine weighs 15,000 kg (33,069 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- DD direct-drive trunnion with rotary rapids of 50 rpm on A and 100 rpm on B
- 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) rapid traverse on X, Y and Z
- Built-in BBT40 spindle with 15,000 rpm and 249 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque
- 60-tool magazine as standard, with 90 or 120 as options, and a 12 kg (26 lb) tool weight limit
- 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load on a 500 x 500 mm (19.7 x 19.7 in) table
Limitations
- Full 5-axis is listed only with the Siemens ONE; both Fanuc controls are listed as 4+1 axis
- Spindle power differs by control: 37/18.5 kW (49.6/24.8 hp) with Fanuc, 35/25 kW (46.9/33.5 hp) with Siemens
- A listed depth of 8,075 mm (317.9 in) and a weight of 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) call for a long bay and a checked floor
- 15,000 rpm is the only spindle speed listed, while the GT-630F offers 20,000 and 24,000 rpm options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
With the Siemens ONE control, yes: Tongtai lists that version, which has a 19 in screen, as full 5-axis. The Fanuc 0i-MF Plus (15 in) and Fanuc 31i-MB (10.4 in) versions are listed as 4+1 axis. The table lists one set of travels and rotary ranges for all three, so the choice comes down to whether the parts need simultaneous five-axis motion.
02
The A axis is listed at 50 rpm and the B axis at 100 rpm. Both sit on a DD direct-drive trunnion. A travels through -120~+20° and B through 360°. On parts machined on many faces, rotary speed has as much effect on cycle time as the 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) linear rapids.
03
A built-in BBT40 spindle with a maximum of 15,000 rpm and 249 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Power is listed by control: 37/18.5 kW (49.6/24.8 hp) for Fanuc and 35/25 kW (46.9/33.5 hp) for Siemens. No higher-speed option appears in the table.
04
The standard magazine has 60 tools, and 90 or 120 are listed as options. Maximum tool weight is 12 kg (26 lb). For five-axis work that often needs long-reach tools in several lengths, the larger magazines reduce how often tools have to be swapped by hand between jobs.
05
Tongtai lists 3,386 x 8,075 x 3,177 mm (133.3 x 317.9 x 125.1 in), width by depth by height, and a weight of 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). Depth is by far the largest dimension, so lay the machine out on the floor plan lengthwise before committing to a position.
