Overview

Heavy roughing of high-strength materials is the stated job of the Fooke ENDURA 7000LINEAR. It is a compact overhead gantry milling machine for tool and mould construction, with X travels of 3,000 / 4,500 / 6,000 mm, Y travels of 3,500 / 4,500 mm and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z, running in 3-axis and 5-axis work.

Everything about the build leans towards mass and damping. The machine bed, the Z travel beam and the cross slide are solid castings; only the side walls and the gantry are welded steel. Fooke describes the concept as thermosymmetrical and says the casting materials damp the vibration excited by the cut and by direction changes. Compare the acceleration figures to see the consequence: up to 3 m/sec² here, where the lighter compact machines list up to 5 m/sec².

It is still a linear motor machine. Feed rates are 5 - 65,000 mm/min and rapid traverse is 65 m/min in X, Y and Z, with torque motors in the rotary axes. Position accuracy is 0.015 mm and position scatter 0.010 mm per axis, so the machine that roughs a die can also finish it.

Only two milling heads are listed, 8 and 12, the heavy end of Fooke's head range. For milling head 12 the head brochure gives an HSK-A100 spindle with 60 kW, 15,000 rpm and 300 Nm.

Despite the weight of the castings, Fooke says the machine does not need to be placed on foundations: a steel-reinforced industrial floor approx. 300 mm thick is sufficient. Emulsion mist extraction is on the options list, which fits a machine expected to cut wet.
