Feeler VTM-415 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler VTM-415 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

The Feeler VTM-415 is a vertical mill-turn machine: a three-axis machining center whose table is a direct-drive C axis, so the part can be spun for turning as well as indexed for milling. The table is φ415 mm, carries 130 kg (287 lb), and Feeler's table describes the C-axis rotary table simply as DDM, with 360° of rotation.

Linear travels are 520 mm (20.5 in) in X, 460 mm (18.1 in) in Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) in Z, and all three axes rapid at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm). The spindle runs to 12,000 rpm and takes HSK-A63(T) tooling. The T form of that interface is the one made for locking turning tools in a milling spindle, which matches the machine's purpose. There are 24 tool positions.

Feeler aims the VTM-415 at the medical, semiconductor and 3C industries and says it combines turning, milling and grinding in one machine. The benefit claimed is fewer setups. As an example the maker cites tablet machining that originally required three separate operations and can now be completed in a single step, improving efficiency by over 66 percent.

The rest of the description concerns keeping such a machine running unattended: large diameter chip ports with a base-level chip flushing system, an automatic alert system, ECO MODE and machine-wide power monitoring. Self-diagnostics, lifecycle management and remote maintenance are listed as optional. The table gives no turning speed for the C axis and no spindle power, both of which a turning job needs.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Direct-drive (DDM) C-axis table allows turning and milling in one clamping
  • 12,000 rpm spindle with an HSK-A63(T) interface for both milling and turning tools
  • 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z
  • Feeler cites a tablet part reduced from three operations to a single step
  • Chip ports with base-level flushing, ECO MODE and power monitoring described by the maker

Limitations

  • Table load is 130 kg (287 lb) on a φ415 mm table
  • No table turning speed is published, so cutting speed on small diameters cannot be checked
  • Z travel of 400 mm (15.7 in) limits part height plus tool length
  • Self-diagnostics, lifecycle management and remote maintenance are optional

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is the Feeler VTM-415 a lathe or a machining center?

Both functions in one frame. It has X, Y and Z travels of 520, 460 and 400 mm like a small vertical machining center, and a direct-drive C-axis table of φ415 mm on which the workpiece rotates. Feeler describes it as combining turning, milling and grinding.

02 What tooling interface does it use?

HSK-A63(T), at a spindle speed of 12,000 rpm, with 24 tools. The T variant of HSK-A63 has a tighter drive-key fit for holding turning tools against rotation in a locked milling spindle.

03 How much weight can the table carry?

The maximum loading weight in Feeler's table is 130 kg (287 lb). For turning, the balance of the part and fixture matters as much as the weight, and the page gives no maximum table speed, so discuss the workpiece with the maker.

04 What efficiency gain does Feeler claim?

The maker's example is tablet machining that originally required three separate operations and can now be completed in a single step after process optimization, improving efficiency by over 66 percent. It is one example, not a general rating.
