Overview
This is the 20 Ton version of the Ermak ETP-S 1500x2500, a servo-electric turret punch press with a 2,500 x 1,500 mm (98.4 x 59.1 in) sheet capacity. The maker's table lists it beside a 30 Ton machine of the same name and the same dimensions.
What does the lower tonnage change? Mainly the electrical side. The power supply is 40 kW (53.6 hp) here, where the ETP-S 1500x2500 (30 ton) requires 60 kW. For a shop punching thin sheet, 20 Ton covers most standard tooling, and the smaller connection is easier to accommodate.
Everything the operator touches is the same. The turret has 33 stations, the axes run at 80 m/min each, and the listed punch rates are 1,200 strokes/min for marking, 900 strokes/min at a 1 mm step and 600 strokes/min at a 25 mm step. The table carries 200 kg (441 lb).
Ermak's thickness figures do not vary by tonnage in the table: 6.35 mm mild steel in a fixed station and 4 mm in an auto-index station. Whether a given hole can actually be punched depends on its perimeter and the material, which is where 20 Ton sets the limit.
