Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca MT-312MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Ecoca MT-312MC sits at an unusual point in the range: a 12 in (305 mm) chuck with a maximum turning diameter of 330 mm (13.0 in). The chuck is almost as large as the biggest part the turret can turn. That only makes sense for a certain kind of work, and it is worth being clear about which.
Heavy, long or awkward blanks are the answer. A forged shaft, a thick-walled tube or a casting gripped on a rough surface needs the jaw stroke and clamping force of a big chuck even when the finished diameters are modest. Add the 5,000 rpm milling spindle and the part can leave the machine with its keyways, flats and cross holes done. Turning length is 470 / 720 / 970 mm (18.5 / 28.3 / 38.2 in) by bed, and a hydraulic tailstock is standard for the long ones.
Main spindle speed is 3,200 rpm, with the 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor used across the MT-3 columns. Parts that are light and small would be better served by the MT-310MC, which has the same turret, milling speed and envelope with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 4,200 rpm.
There are 12 stations. Ecoca offers the turret in servo or hydraulic form and notes that tool holders and sleeves are optional for living tool. The frame has a 600 mm (23.6 in) swing over the bed, a 30 degree slant and HARD RAIL guideways, and weighs 5,100 / 5,500 / 6,000 kg (11,243 / 12,125 / 13,228 lb) according to length.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12 in (305 mm) chuck for secure gripping of heavy or rough blanks
- 5,000 rpm milling spindle with 12 tool stations
- Turning lengths up to 970 mm (38.2 in) with a standard hydraulic tailstock
- Servo or hydraulic turret can be specified
Limitations
- Turning diameter of 330 mm (13.0 in) is barely larger than the 12 in (305 mm) chuck
- 3,200 rpm main spindle limits surface speed on small diameters; the MT-310MC runs to 4,200 rpm
- No milling power, torque or Y-axis travel is given
- Tool holders and sleeves for living tool cost extra

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning diameter is 330 mm (13.0 in). Maximum turning length is 470, 720 or 970 mm (18.5, 28.3 or 38.2 in), depending on which of the three beds is ordered. Swing over the bed is 600 mm (23.6 in) and over the cross slide 400 mm (15.7 in).
02
They differ in chuck and main spindle speed only. Pick the MT-312MC, with its 12 in (305 mm) chuck and 3,200 rpm, for heavy blanks that need grip. Pick the MT-310MC, with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 4,200 rpm, when the parts are lighter and the diameters small enough to want speed.
03
Diameter. The MT-312 turns up to 450 mm (17.7 in) and its lengths are 480 / 730 / 980 mm (18.9 / 28.7 / 38.6 in). The MT-312MC gives up some of both in exchange for its 5,000 rpm milling spindle.
04
A 3-jaw hydraulic chuck with soft jaw, hydraulic tailstock, live center, hydraulic system, coolant system, auto lubrication system, heat exchanger, leveling pads, MPG hand wheel, work light and static holders for O.D., facing and boring tools. Driven tool holders are optional.
