How much does the Danobat Mikroturn 100 XLS cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat Mikroturn 100 XLS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Shafts are the purpose of the Danobat Mikroturn 100 XLS. It is the one model in the Mikroturn hard turning range with a long between-centers rating, Ø240 x 1,000 mm (Ø9.4 x 39.3 in), nearly three times the 350 mm length of the standard machine. Danobat's series text describes it as the Mikroturn for long workpieces up to 1000 mm in length.
To make room for the tailstock travel the chucking diameter gives a little: 350 mm (13.8 in) without a tailstock, against 380 mm (15 in) on the Mikroturn 100. Spindle speed stays at 4,000 rpm. Floor space grows to 9.6 m² (103 sqft).
Long hardened shafts are difficult parts for any finishing process, because a slender workpiece deflects away from the tool and the error shows up as taper or a barrel shape. Two things on the Mikroturn bear on that. The hydrostatic guideways hold 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability over the stroke, and the option list includes both a tailstock and a steady rest for increased stiffness and stability on long workpieces. The steady rest is an option and should be assumed necessary for anything slender.
The remaining data is shared with the range. The main spindle is hydrostatic with a guaranteed runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm, the base and spindle housing are natural granite, and the control is Siemens Sinumerik One with 0.01 µm resolution. Workpieces up to 70 HRC are within the stated scope. A grinding spindle and stone finishing are offered as additional finishing options, useful when a bearing seat on the shaft needs a finer surface than turning leaves.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Between-centers capacity of Ø240 x 1,000 mm (Ø9.4 x 39.3 in), the longest in the range
- 4,000 rpm spindle retained on the long-bed model
- Tailstock and steady rest available for stiffness on long workpieces
- Hydrostatic guideways with 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability along the stroke
- Grinding spindle and stone finishing can be added for bearing seats
Limitations
- Chucking diameter is 350 mm (13.8 in), the smallest of the single-spindle Mikroturn models
- Between centers the diameter is limited to 240 mm (9.4 in)
- Needs 9.6 m² (103 sqft), about half as much again as the Mikroturn 100
- Weight capacity between centers is not given

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The between-centers rating is Ø240 x 1,000 mm (Ø9.4 x 39.3 in). Without the tailstock the maximum turning diameter is 350 mm (13.8 in). Danobat does not publish a weight limit between centers for this model.
02
The page lists tailstock and steady rest under customisation, as items for increased stiffness and stability for long workpieces. It does not state that either is standard on the XLS, although a between-centers rating implies a tailstock. Ask for both to be itemised in the quotation.
03
Length between centers: 1,000 mm (39.3 in) against the 350 mm of the Mikroturn 100, with a slightly larger diameter there, 240 mm (9.4 in) against 200 mm. Against the Mikroturn 100 the chucking diameter is smaller, 350 mm (13.8 in) against 380 mm (15 in), and the footprint larger, 9.6 m² (103 sqft) against 6.5 m² (70 sqft).
04
The range figures: a guaranteed main spindle runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm, 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability from hydrostatic guideways controlled by linear scales, and 0.01 µm control resolution. No straightness or cylindricity figure over the 1,000 mm (39.3 in) length is published.
