Overview
The Haas ST-25L is the long-bed variant of the ST-25, extending the Z-axis to 813 mm (32 in) while retaining the ST-25's 22.4 kW (30 hp) spindle, 76 mm (3 in) bar capacity, and 254 mm (10 in) chuck on the same 533 mm (21 in) swing frame. It is the smallest long-bed Haas lathe with 30 hp and 3-inch bore capacity.
The A2-6 spindle delivers 407 Nm (300 ft-lb) of torque at 500 RPM, topping out at 3,400 RPM. That torque figure is double the ST-20L and positions the ST-25L for heavy roughing on longer parts in steel and stainless. The 88.9 mm (3.5 in) spindle bore handles through-spindle work within the 3-inch bar range.
Axis travels are 213 mm (8.4 in) in X and 813 mm (32 in) in Z with rapids at 24 m/min (945 ipm). Maximum thrust forces of 18,238 N (4,100 lbf) in X and 22,686 N (5,100 lbf) in Z provide solid cutting authority on longer workpieces where deflection can be a concern.
The ST-25L fills a niche for shops that need 30 hp and 3-inch bore on a long bed without stepping up to the heavier, wider ST-30L platform. Production facilities running longer shafts, threaded rods, and hydraulic cylinders in 3-inch bar stock get the power and bore they need in a compact long-bed package.
At roughly $65,000-$95,000 configured, the ST-25L delivers a compelling combination of power, bore capacity, and bed length. The 12-station BOT turret, NGC control, and HFO service network are consistent with the rest of the Haas ST lineup.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 30 hp spindle with 300 ft-lb of torque provides serious cutting power on long parts — double the torque of the ST-20L
- 3-inch bar capacity covers a wider range of production bar stock on the long bed without stepping to the ST-30L
- 813 mm (32 in) Z-axis travel extends the ST-25's reach for longer shafts, rods, and cylindrical components
- Same compact 21-inch swing frame as the ST-20L with significantly more power and bore capacity
- Higher thrust forces (4,100/5,100 lbf) enable heavier cuts on longer parts where deflection is a concern
- At $65-95K configured, delivers 30 hp long-bed turning at a fraction of the ST-30L's price
Limitations
- 3,400 RPM max spindle speed is lower than the ST-20L's 4,000 RPM, limiting small-diameter surface speeds
- Same 13-inch max cutting diameter as the standard ST-25 — only the Z-axis is extended
- No Y-axis or live tooling on the base ST-25L for off-center features
- BOT turret rigidity trails the BMT-65 tooling on Y-axis variants

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Base price starts around $65,000. Adding tailstock, chip conveyor, high-pressure coolant, and common options pushes the configured price to $80,000-$95,000. The long-bed premium over the standard ST-25 is approximately $5,000-$8,000.
02
The ST-30L has a larger cutting envelope at 406 x 1,016 mm (16 x 40 in) versus the ST-25L's 330 x 813 mm (13 x 32 in), plus a larger swing (660 vs 533 mm), 4-inch bar capacity, and A2-8 spindle nose. Both share the same 30 hp spindle. The ST-25L saves floor space and cost. The ST-30L extends reach and bore capacity.
03
The ST-25L extends the Z-axis from 572 mm (22.5 in) to 813 mm (32 in). The spindle, chuck, bar capacity, and power specs are identical. Choose the L variant when your parts regularly exceed 22.5 inches in turning length.
04
Yes. The 30 hp spindle and 300 ft-lb of torque handle 304 and 316 stainless at production feeds even on longer parts. The higher thrust forces keep the tool engaged during heavier cuts. For aggressive roughing in duplex stainless or Inconel on long parts, the ST-30L or ST-35L with 40 hp would be more appropriate.
