How much does the Danobat Mikroturn 100 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat Mikroturn 100 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 6.5 m² (70 sqft), the Danobat Mikroturn 100 has the smallest footprint of the six horizontal Mikroturn hard turning lathes. It turns hardened parts up to 380 mm (15 in) in diameter without a tailstock and Ø200 x 350 mm (Ø7.8 x 13.7 in) between centers, on a 4,000 rpm spindle under a Siemens Sinumerik One control.
Why would a shop hard turn instead of grind? Flexibility, mostly. A single-point tool follows any contour the program describes, and Danobat notes that ID and OD features can be combined in one clamping, which removes re-clamping error. Changeover and set-up take under 30 minutes in many cases by the maker's account. A grinder needs a wheel dressed to each form.
Hard turning only replaces grinding if the machine holds grinding-class accuracy, and that is what the hydrostatic design is for. Danobat guarantees a runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm on the main spindle. Slides float on hydrostatic guideways with 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability, and the control resolves 0.01 µm. The base and spindle housing are natural granite, isolated from the metal frame by vibration absorbing mounts.
The range can be extended on the machine itself. Listed options include live tooling, a grinding spindle and stone finishing, a part probe, tool measurement, a tool wear measurement camera system and in-process tool life measurement. For larger discs the Mikroturn 100 XLD turns up to 610 mm (24 in), and for shafts the Mikroturn 100 XLS takes Ø240 x 1,000 mm (Ø9.4 x 39.3 in) between centers.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Smallest floor space in the horizontal range at 6.5 m² (70 sqft)
- 380 mm (15 in) turning diameter and 4,000 rpm in that footprint
- Control resolution of 0.01 µm on Siemens Sinumerik One
- Guaranteed main spindle runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm from a wear-free hydrostatic spindle
- Changeover and set-up in under 30 minutes in many cases, according to Danobat
- Options for live tooling, a grinding spindle and stone finishing on the same machine
Limitations
- Between-centers capacity ends at Ø200 x 350 mm (Ø7.8 x 13.7 in), so long shafts need the Mikroturn 100 XLS
- Chucking diameter of 380 mm (15 in) is well short of the 610 mm (24 in) of the Mikroturn 100 XLD
- Tailstock, steady rest, probes and live tooling are customisation items
- The page gives no spindle power, machine weight or utility data for planning the installation

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning diameter without tailstock is 380 mm (15 in). Between centers the limit is Ø200 x 350 mm (Ø7.8 x 13.7 in). Spindle speed is 4,000 rpm, the control is Siemens Sinumerik One and the floor space is 6.5 m² (70 sqft).
02
Danobat describes the Mikroturn as a machine for hardened workpieces up to 70 HRC and cites high material removal rates even in hardened steel or carbide. Tool grade and geometry for a given material are an application question; the page offers no cutting data.
03
A film of oil separates the moving elements, so there is no metal-to-metal contact in the spindle or the guideways. Danobat lists the results as no wear, good damping, high stiffness regardless of speed and good thermal stability. The measurable outcomes it publishes are ≤ 0.1 µm spindle runout, 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability.
04
A grinding spindle is listed under additional finishing options, together with stone finishing. For work where turning and grinding are both needed on every part, Danobat sells a dedicated hybrid: the MTG-100, with a 380 mm (14.9 in) turning diameter and Ø130 x 350 mm (5.1 x 13.8 in) grinding capacity.
05
For diameter, the Mikroturn 100 XLD turns up to 610 mm (24 in) at 2,000 rpm. For length, the Mikroturn 100 XLS handles Ø240 x 1,000 mm (Ø9.4 x 39.3 in) between centers. Each takes more floor: 8.6 m² (93 sqft) for the Mikroturn 100 XLD and 9.6 m² (103 sqft) for the Mikroturn 100 XLS.
