Estimated price range
Our best estimate for a mill-turn / multi-tasking machine in this class — not a quote from Citizen Machinery. Configuration moves it a long way.
Overview
The Citizen Miyano BNX-65MSY is a fixed-headstock lathe with a main and a back spindle and a 12-station turret with a Y axis, sized for bar up to 65 mm (2.56 in). Both spindles run to 5,000 rpm, the main spindle on an 18.5/15 kW (25/20 hp) motor, and all 12 turret stations can take live tools driven at 6,000 rpm by a 4.0 kW (25 Nm) motor. The BNX-65MSY is not in Citizen's current lineup.
Bar capacity is the point of this model. The draw tube bore is 66 mm, the standard machining diameter is ø65 mm on both spindles, and a 6” hollow chuck is listed. That puts larger fittings, hubs and valve parts within reach of a bar-fed fixed-headstock machine, and because the back spindle is rated for the same ø65 mm, a part can be transferred and finished on its second end at full size.
The turret moves 168 mm in X1 and 349 mm in Z1, with ±40 mm of Y1. The back spindle has its own slide, 88 mm in X2 and 650 mm in Z2, and the spindle end faces are 892 mm apart. Rapid traverse is 24 m/min (945 ipm) on X and Z and 10 m/min (394 ipm) on Y; the Miyano BNA-42MSY is listed at 12 m/min (472 ipm) on its Y axis. Turning tools are □20 mm and sleeves φ25 mm. LFV chip breaking is listed as available.
For a used machine, the listed control is the Mitsubishi M830W and the power consumption 39 kVA. Floor space is 2,990 x 1,560 mm and height 1,775mm. The table gives no usable back-spindle motor rating and no unit for the machine weight, so take both from the machine's plate before planning transport or heavy back-end cuts.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 65 mm (2.56 in) bar capacity, a 66 mm draw tube bore and ø65 mm standard machining diameter on both spindles
- 18.5/15 kW (25/20 hp) main spindle motor running to 5,000 rpm
- All 12 turret stations take live tools, driven at 6,000 rpm by a 4.0 kW (25 Nm) motor
- Back spindle on a slide with 650 mm of Z2 travel and 892 mm between the spindle end faces
- 24 m/min (945 ipm) rapids on X and Z, with LFV chip breaking listed as available
Limitations
- Not in Citizen's current lineup, so any machine on offer is used; confirm options and control condition
- Y axis is ±40 mm and rapids at 10 m/min (394 ipm), against 12 m/min (472 ipm) on the Miyano BNA-42MSY
- The table gives no clear back-spindle motor rating and no unit for the weight; confirm both before buying
- Both spindles stop at 5,000 rpm, which limits cutting speed on small diameters

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Bar up to 65 mm (2.56 in). The draw tube bore is 66 mm, both spindles have a standard machining diameter of ø65 mm, and a 6” hollow chuck is listed for them.
02
The turret has 12 stations, all of which can carry live tools. They run at up to 6,000 rpm on a 4.0 kW (25 Nm) motor. Turning tools are □20 mm and boring sleeves φ25 mm, and the Y axis travels ±40 mm.
03
The back spindle slide strokes 88 mm in X2 and 650 mm in Z2. The distance between the spindle end faces is 892 mm, and the back spindle runs to 5,000 rpm like the main spindle.
04
The listed control is the Mitsubishi M830W and the power consumption 39 kVA; the machine needs 2,990 x 1,560 mm of floor and 1,775mm of height. The table has no usable back-spindle motor rating or weight unit, so read both from the machine's plate.
