Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Colchester Magnum HD CNC 800 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Colchester Magnum HD CNC 800 is the smallest of the Magnum HD heavy-duty CNC lathes, and small is relative: it swings 800 mm (31.5 in) over the bed, takes work from 2 m to 6 m between centres and offers spindle bores of 155 / 250 / 305 mm (6.1 / 9.8 / 12.0 in). Standard spindle power is 22.5 kW (30.2 hp), with 30 kW (40.2 hp) as an option.
Colchester builds the series on a one-piece bed, floor-type casting. On a lathe meant for parts weighing tonnes that is the feature that matters most, because the headstock, bed and tailstock ways stay in one casting instead of being bolted and aligned. The spindle is alloy steel on opposed taper roller bearings, driven through a 4-step auto change variable speed headstock.
Each bore has its own nose and speed range. The table pairs them in order: A2-11 / A2-15 / A2-20, and 6 - 800 / 4 - 600 / 4 - 400 rpm. These are slow, high-torque ranges for large diameters, and nothing here is intended for small work. Swing over the cross slide is 510 mm (20.1 in) and swing in the gap 1,100 mm (43.3 in).
The standard tool carrier is a 4-way hydraulic tool post, with an auto indexing turret as an option. A rear swarf conveyor with swarf cart is included. The tailstock is carriage driven with manual quill movement. The control is the FANUC 0i-TF Plus with a 10.4 in colour screen and Manual Guide i, and a Siemens 828D with ShopTurn can be ordered in its place. A C-axis and driven tool turret is also optional.

As an option. Colchester lists C-axis functionality and a driven tool turret for milling, drilling and tapping among the optional features, and describes a MillTurn option that reduces second-operation work. The base machine is a 2-axis lathe with a 4-way hydraulic tool post.
