Overview
The CHMER RV1285L is the largest wire EDM in the RV series in every direction: 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X, 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z. A workpiece of 1,600 x 1,100 x 495 mm (63.0 x 43.3 x 19.5 in) and 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) fits its fixed table.
Think of it as the RV1283L with a tall column. The plan travels and load are identical; Z goes from the 300 mm of the RV1283L to 500 mm, and the machine grows with it to 2,780 mm (109.4 in) high and 9,000 kg (19,841 lb). Width also increases a little, to 5,050 mm (198.8 in).
CHMER introduces the model as a new design built around intelligent systems: a real-time processing monitor, machine-to-machine networking and production management. In practice that means the Kanban information centre, the Android app and the LINE and e-mail notices described for the series. On a machine whose single jobs can run for days, being able to see status and spare-part life away from the shop floor has obvious use.
Two things to raise with CHMER. The page gives two different U and V travels for this model, so that row is left out here. And the specification column on the RV1285L page is headed with the RV1283L name, though its Z and height figures are those of the taller machine.
