CHMER PL8080 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CHMER PL8080 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CHMER or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CHMER PL8080 is the largest laser cutting machine in CHMER's PL series, with a square processing size of 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in). Like the rest of the series it is a thin-material machine: the cutting thickness range is 0.05-2.0 mm (0.002-0.079 in).

It is also the fastest of the three. The X and Y axes, which the series catalogue describes as linear motor driven, reach 25 m/min (984 ipm), against 20 m/min (787 ipm) on the PL6880. On thin sheet the laser can cut faster than most axes can follow through tight geometry, so axis speed and response, not laser power, often set the cycle time on dense nests of small parts.

A square 800 mm table suits nested production, where many small parts are cut from one blank and the frame is handled as a unit. The blank and its carrier may weigh up to 120 kg (265 lb). Z travel is 120 mm (4.7 in), which is clearance for fixtures and formed parts more than a working stroke.

The machine is only a little larger than the PL6880: 2,250 x 2,190 x 2,100 mm (88.6 x 86.2 x 82.7 in) and 2,400 kg (5,291 lb). Power consumption is 2-24 kVA. The laser source itself is not described on CHMER's page. One slip there: the specification column on the PL8080 page is headed PL6880, though the figures agree with this model's summary box.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large a sheet can the PL8080 process?

The processing size is 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in), equal to the X and Y axis travel. Maximum workpiece weight is 120 kg (265 lb) and Z axis travel is 120 mm (4.7 in).

02 What is the difference between the PL8080 and the PL6880?

The PL8080 has an 800 x 800 mm processing size and a maximum axis speed of 25 m/min (984 ipm). The PL6880 has 680 x 800 mm and 20 m/min (787 ipm). Cutting thickness, workpiece weight and power consumption are the same; the PL8080 weighs 2,400 kg (5,291 lb) against 2,300 kg (5,071 lb) for the PL6880.

03 What thickness does the PL8080 cut?

From 0.05 mm to 2.0 mm (0.002-0.079 in). CHMER's catalogue titles the PL series high precision linear motor drive laser cutting machines; it is built for thin material, not plate.

04 What are the installation figures for the PL8080?

Outside dimensions are 2,250 x 2,190 x 2,100 mm (88.6 x 86.2 x 82.7 in), net weight is 2,400 kg (5,291 lb) and power consumption is 2-24 kVA.
