Overview
The Chevalier FVL-1250VTC is a vertical turning lathe with a 49.2 in (1,250 mm) table that swings and cuts 63.0 in (1,600 mm) in diameter. It is the smallest of three FVL sizes, and at 48,500 lb (22,000 kg) it is still a foundation machine built for heavy rings, flanges, housings and discs up to 17,600 lb (8,000 kg).
The table has two speed ranges, High: 151 to 300 rpm and Low: 3 to 150 rpm, and a maximum torque of 11,461 Nm. Low range is for large diameters and interrupted roughing, high range for finishing smaller bores. Maximum turning height is 47.2 in (1,200 mm).
The tool is carried in a square ram on a cross beam. X travel is given as -26.2 in, +37.8 in, which means the ram passes the table centre, as it must for facing to centre and boring.
