Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier FBL-300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier FBL-300 is a mid-size slant-bed CNC lathe with box ways and a 3.0 in (77 mm) bar capacity. It turns 20 in (510 mm) in diameter and 23.4 in (594 mm) in length through an A2-8 spindle with a 3.5 in (88 mm) bore, at up to 2,500 rpm.
Those figures describe a torque machine. The speed ceiling is low and the bore is large, so the FBL-300 suits bigger diameters in steel and cast iron more than small high-speed work. Chevalier states that the series features up to a 25HP spindle motor; the specification table for this model has no motor row of its own.
Travels are 11.4 in (290 mm) in X and 25.2 in (640 mm) in Z, with rapid traverse of 787 / 787 ipm on both. The turret has 10 stations and takes 1 in square tools on S.A.E. machines or 25 x 25 mm on metric ones. Ten stations is fewer than the 12 on the smaller FBL-230, a trade for larger tool spacing around a 20 in part.
The tailstock is programmable, with 21.7 in (550 mm) of travel and a hydraulic quill 3.5 in (90 mm) in diameter with 5.1 in (130 mm) of stroke and an MT 5 taper. Distance between centers is 29.4 in (748 mm). The machine weighs 12,760 lb (5,800 kg) and occupies 139 in x 76 in x 76.8 in. The bed is a 45-degree slant casting in ribbed Meehanite iron, and the control is a Fanuc 0i-T.
