Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier FBL-320Y that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier FBL-320Y pairs the larger A2-8 spindle of the FBL-320 line with a servo tailstock and a Y-axis live turret. It is the heaviest-duty single-spindle machine among Chevalier's Y-axis lathes: a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, a 3.5 in (88 mm) spindle bore, 3 in (77 mm) bar capacity and 14,330 lb (6,500 kg) of machine on box ways.
Spindle speed tops out at 3,500 rpm. On this class of machine that is a sign of a larger spindle bearing, not a weakness, and it fits the work: steel shafts, hubs and sleeves of a few inches in diameter, turned hard and then milled. Maximum cutting diameter is 18 in (Ø460 mm) and cutting length 21.5 in (548 mm).
The tailstock travels 25.6 in (650 mm) under servo control. Its quill is 3.3 in (85 mm) across with an MT5 taper and 4 in (100 mm) of travel. With the part supported, the Power BMT60(55) turret can take full-depth roughing cuts and then bring in driven tools for keyways or cross holes, using the Y axis to keep slot walls parallel.
The number of tools is printed as 12 (16), with a 0.2 sec index. Feed rates are 945 / 394 / 945 ipm (24 / 10 / 24 m/min). The C axis has a 0.001° increment and turns at 200 rpm. Chevalier's dual 30-degree slant bed carries all of it within 119.1 in x 74.2 in x 75.3 in. The control is a Fanuc 0i-T.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- A2-8 spindle with a 3.5 in (88 mm) bore and 3 in (77 mm) bar capacity
- Servo tailstock, 25.6 in (650 mm) travel, MT5 quill
- Y-axis live turret, Power BMT60(55), 0.2 sec index
- 18 in (Ø460 mm) maximum cutting diameter with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck
- Box-way dual 30-degree slant bed in a 119.1 in wide footprint
Limitations
- 3,500 rpm maximum spindle speed
- No sub-spindle, so second-side work needs another setup
- Cutting length of 21.5 in (548 mm) is shorter than the tailstock travel suggests
- No spindle power or usable X and Z travel in the maker's table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum spindle speed is 3,500 rpm with an A2-8 spindle nose and a 3.5 in (88 mm) bore. Maximum bar capacity is 3 in (77 mm) and the chuck is 10 in (254 mm).
02
Yes. The FBL-320SY replaces the tailstock with a 6,000 rpm sub-spindle carrying a 6 in (152 mm) chuck, and lists a 10 in or 12 in main chuck. The FBL-320Y is the tailstock model.
