Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier FBL-530 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier FBL-530 is a three-metre slant-bed CNC lathe: 118.1 in (3,000 mm) of cutting length on a machine that also turns Ø37 in (940 mm). Few slant-bed lathes are built this long, and the size shows in the installation figures of 50,600 lb (23,000 kg) and a floor space 338.6 in wide.
Work of this length is loaded by crane, and the slant bed helps there. Chevalier describes the 45-degree structure as giving a low center of gravity and easy access for workpiece changeovers; with the door open, a shaft can be lowered between the chuck and the tailstock from above. The tailstock is programmable over 118.1 in (3,000 mm), so it can be brought to the part and clamped without hand cranking.
Rigidity over the length comes from the casting. The maker cites a torque tube design structure that withstands greater stress without deforming, in ribbed Meehanite iron. The carriage has 19.3 in (490 mm) of X travel and carries a 12-station turret. Spindle speed is 1,000 rpm on an A2-15 nose.
Before ordering, settle what the table leaves open. There is no steady rest in the specification, and a slender shaft three metres long cannot be turned without one. The spindle bore, bar capacity and quill travel rows are contradictory on the maker's page and are not shown. The tailstock quill itself is 7.9 in (200 mm) in diameter with an MT 6 taper, and the control is a Fanuc 0i-T.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 118.1 in (3,000 mm) of cutting length, Z travel and tailstock travel
- Ø37 in (940 mm) cutting diameter on a slant bed
- 50,600 lb (23,000 kg) net weight
- Programmable tailstock with a 7.9 in (200 mm) hydraulic quill
- Torque tube bed structure in ribbed Meehanite casting
Limitations
- Needs 338.6 in x 117.2 in of floor and crane access
- No steady rest data in the maker's table
- Spindle speed of 1,000 rpm
- Spindle bore and bar capacity cannot be read reliably from the maker's page

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum cutting length is 118.1 in (3,000 mm). Z-axis travel and tailstock travel are the same figure. Maximum cutting diameter is Ø37 in (940 mm), and Ø31.5 in (800 mm) clears the cover.
02
Floor space is 338.6 in x 117.2 in x 99.6 in (8,602 x 2,983 x 2,530 mm) and net weight 50,600 lb (23,000 kg). The FBL-520, one size shorter, is 299.2 in wide and weighs 41,800 lb (19,000 kg).
03
Chevalier states that the ribbed Meehanite casting provides strong support and damping, reducing deflection and vibration during heavy machining, and that the torque tube design structure withstands greater stress without deforming. The bed is slanted at 45 degrees.
04
Yes, the FBL-530 MC. On the maker's page its column is the same as this one, including the Ø37 in (940 mm) cutting diameter and the 50,600 lb (23,000 kg) weight, and the difference is the live tooling function that Chevalier attributes to MC models.
