How much does the AWEA LP-3025 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-3025 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA LP-3025 is the shortest bridge type machining center in the 2,500 mm group of the LP series: 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel, 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z, over a 3,020 x 2,400 mm (118.9 x 94.5 in) table that takes 12,000 kg (26,455 lb). With 2,700 mm (106.3 in) between the columns, its table is closer to square than on any longer LP model. That shape suits wide moulds and plates more than long beams.
Short X travel pays off twice. X rapid traverse is 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm), the fastest of the four machines in the group, while Y and Z run at 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm). Positioning accuracy under VDI is P ≤ 0.025 mm over full travel with repeatability of Ps ≤ 0.020 mm, the tightest VDI figures of the four; the LP-4025 is listed at P ≤ 0.030 mm. Under JIS the figures are ± 0.015 mm over full travel and ± 0.003 mm.
The standard spindle is a 6,000 rpm BT50 unit on a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor. AWEA describes a 2-speed gear box and gives 642 N-m at 387 rpm for the 6,000 rpm gear spindle. Options go in both directions: a 4,000 rpm gear spindle with 977 N-m at 254 rpm, built-in motorized spindles at 6,000 or 8,000 rpm, and direct drive spindles at 8,000 or 10,000 rpm with 165 N-m at 1,500 rpm. The direct drive choice gives up most of the torque, so settle the split between steel roughing and light-alloy finishing before ordering.
X and Y run on roller type linear guide ways and Z on a hardened box way. The machine weighs 36,000 kg (79,365 lb), and the 32-tool magazine can be extended to 60, 90 or 120 tools.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X rapid traverse of 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm), the highest X figure among the LP models with 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of Y
- VDI positioning accuracy of P ≤ 0.025 mm over full travel, against P ≤ 0.030 mm on the LP-4025
- A 3,020 x 2,400 mm (118.9 x 94.5 in) table rated for 12,000 kg (26,455 lb)
- Six spindle choices from a 4,000 rpm gear spindle with 977 N-m at 254 rpm to a 10,000 rpm direct drive unit
- Z travel can be ordered at 1,000, 1,200 or 1,400 mm in place of the standard 760 mm (29.9 in)
Limitations
- Only 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel; the LP-4025 adds a metre on the same Y and columns
- Standard Z travel is 760 mm (29.9 in), and the taller strokes are options
- At 36,000 kg (79,365 lb) it is heavier than the 33,000 kg (72,751 lb) LP-3021, which has 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of Y
- The 10,000 rpm direct drive spindle peaks at 165 N-m, far below the 642 N-m of the 6,000 rpm gear spindle

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both have 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel and a 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) X rapid. The LP-3021 has 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of Y, 2,300 mm (90.6 in) between columns and a 3,020 x 2,010 mm (118.9 x 79.1 in) table for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb). The LP-3025 has 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of Y, 2,700 mm (106.3 in) between columns and a 3,020 x 2,400 mm (118.9 x 94.5 in) table for 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).
02
AWEA lists two standards. Under JIS, positioning accuracy is ± 0.015 mm over full travel and repeatability ± 0.003 mm. Under VDI, positioning accuracy is P ≤ 0.025 mm over full travel and repeatability Ps ≤ 0.020 mm. Spindle thermal compensation, which monitors temperature and compensates automatically, is an option.
03
The standard 6,000 rpm gear spindle gives 642 N-m at 387 rpm from a 26 kW motor. For heavier roughing the 4,000 rpm gear spindle raises that to 977 N-m at 254 rpm. The built-in motorized spindles, 6,000 or 8,000 rpm, are quoted at a maximum of 600 N-m at 350 rpm. The direct drive spindles, 8,000 or 10,000 rpm, give 165 N-m at 1,500 rpm and are meant for high speed work.
04
AWEA states that the LP series can be equipped with an automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC system, which turns the machine into a 5-face machining center. The spec table for the LP-3025 describes the standard vertical-spindle machine, so the head changer has to be specified with the order.
