Overview

The AWEA FV-560 is a compact 5-axis vertical machining center with an A / C rotary table of Ø220 mm (Ø8.7 in). Linear travels are 560 mm (22.0 in) in X, 510 mm (20.1 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.1 in) in Z. The A-axis swivels 100° ~ -100° and the C-axis turns a full 360˚.

Part size is set by the table, not the travels. A Ø220 mm platter with a listed load of 75 kg at 0° is made for small, intricate components: impellers, medical implants, tool holders, small aerospace fittings. A symmetrical tilt range in both directions lets the spindle approach a part from either side without re-clamping, which the FV-960 with its -42˚ ~ +120˚ range does not allow to the same degree.

The spindle is a direct drive BBT40 unit at 12,000 rpm, with 15,000 rpm as an option. AWEA's table prints the motor rating for this model without a unit, so it is left out here; ask the maker for the kW figures. Rapids are 32 m/min (1,260 ipm) in X and Y and 24 m/min (945 ipm) in Z. Positioning accuracy is 0.006 mm and repeatability 0.005 mm under ISO230-2, and a closed-loop linear scale is optional.

The standard control is the HEIDENHAIN TNC640, with FANUC Oi -MF Plus and SIEMENS 840D as options. AWEA says the table supports both 5 axes synchronous machining and 4+1 positioning. The machine weighs 4,500 kg (9,921 lb), needs 25 kVA and stands 2,200 x 2,415 x 3,050 mm (86.6 x 95.1 x 120.1 in).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the rotary axis ranges of the AWEA FV-560?

The A-axis swiveling range is 100° ~ -100° and the C-axis rotary range is 360˚. AWEA describes the A / C rotary table as suited to 5 axes synchronous machining or 4+1 axes 5 faces machining.

02 How large and heavy a part can the FV-560 take?

The rotary table is Ø220 mm (Ø8.7 in) and the listed table load capacity at 0° is 75 kg. Travels are 560 mm (22.0 in) in X, 510 mm (20.1 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.1 in) in Z, with 100 ~ 560 mm (3.9 ~ 22.0 in) from spindle nose to table center.

03 Which controls are offered on the FV-560?

The table lists the HEIDENHAIN TNC640 as standard, with FANUC Oi -MF Plus and SIEMENS 840D as options. AWEA states that the spindle is driven by a HEIDENHAIN spindle motor with 12,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm versions.

04 How does the FV-560 compare with the FV-960?

The FV-960 is the larger machine: 960 mm (37.8 in) of X travel, a 560 x 365 mm (22.0 x 14.4 in) table with a Ø350 mm platter, 200 kg at 0° and a weight of 7,400 kg (16,314 lb). Its A-axis range is -42˚ ~ +120˚. The FV-560 has the smaller Ø220 mm (Ø8.7 in) table and weighs 4,500 kg (9,921 lb).
