Overview

The ATLIX xBUILD 1000 is a compact laser metal additive machine with a cylindrical build volume of Ø 100 x H 100 mm (Ø 3.9 x 3.9 in) and a 200 W TRUMPF fiber laser. The effective build area is Ø 98 mm (3.9 in), so parts are laid out on a round area slightly smaller than the nominal diameter. It sits well below the xBUILD 2000, whose build volume is 202 x 202 x 200 mm (8.0 x 8.0 x 7.9 in), and it is a machine for small parts and small batches.

ATLIX lists one laser as standard and two as an option, the multilaser version being 2 x 200 W. On an area this small the second laser adds output, not reach. Build rate is given as 10 - 50 cm³/h (0.6 - 3.1 in³/h), layer thickness as 20 - 60 μm and scan speed as max. 2 m/s (79 in/s). The beam diameter is 80 μm, with a 55/80 μm arrangement as an option for finer features.

Atmosphere control comes in two levels. As standard, oxygen concentration is taken down to 3,000 ppm (0.3%). Down to 100 ppm (0.01%) is optional, so a buyer planning oxygen-sensitive alloys should treat that option as part of the specification and not assume it. Shielding gas is Nitrogen or Argon.

The installation figures are what set the xBUILD 1000 apart. It runs from a 230 V - 30 A - 50/60 Hz supply, measures 780 x 2,050 x 1,160 mm (30.7 x 80.7 x 45.7 in) and weighs 900 kg (1,984 lb) including powder, against 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) for the xBUILD 2000. The table lists no preheating figure for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the build volume of the xBUILD 1000?

The build volume is cylindrical: Ø 100 x H 100 mm (Ø 3.9 x 3.9 in). ATLIX gives the effective build area as Ø 98 mm (3.9 in), so use that figure, not the nominal diameter, when checking whether a part or a nest fits.

02 Can the xBUILD 1000 be ordered with two lasers?

Yes. The standard machine has one 200 W TRUMPF fiber laser, and a multilaser version with 2 x 200 W is listed as an option. The number of lasers is given as 1, optional 2.

03 What oxygen level does the xBUILD 1000 reach?

Oxygen concentration is listed as down to 3,000 ppm (0.3%) as standard, with down to 100 ppm (0.01%) as an option. Shielding gas is Nitrogen or Argon. Specify the lower level at order if the alloys you run need it.

04 What does the xBUILD 1000 need on site?

A 230 V - 30 A - 50/60 Hz power supply and a Nitrogen or Argon shielding gas source. The machine measures 780 x 2,050 x 1,160 mm (30.7 x 80.7 x 45.7 in) and weighs 900 kg (1,984 lb) including powder.

05 How does the xBUILD 1000 compare with the xBUILD 2000?

The xBUILD 2000 has a 202 x 202 x 200 mm (8.0 x 8.0 x 7.9 in) build volume, 300 / 500 W laser power and a weight of 2,500 kg (5,512 lb). The xBUILD 1000 has a Ø 100 x H 100 mm volume, a 200 W laser and weighs 900 kg (1,984 lb) incl. powder.
