Overview
The Haas SR-4020P is the pallet-equipped version of the SR-4020 — the largest and most production-oriented sheet router Haas makes. It combines the SR-4020's massive 4,064 x 2,032 x 152 mm (160 x 80 x 6 in) cutting envelope with a dual-pallet shuttle system, creating a machine that can process oversize sheet stock continuously without stopping for load/unload operations.
The spindle is the same 22.4 kW (30 hp) inline direct-drive running to 15,000 RPM with a CT/BT 40 taper. Rapids run at 30.5 m/min (1,200 ipm) on X and Y, the 30+1 SMTC delivers 1.6-second tool-to-tool changes, and the NGC control runs the show. Everything that makes the SR-4020 a capable sheet router is present.
The pallet system is what elevates this machine to production-cell status. While one oversize sheet is being cut, the operator loads and fixtures the next sheet on the second pallet outside the cutting zone. When the program finishes, the pallets exchange automatically, and cutting resumes immediately. On large-format sheet work where load/unload can take 10-15 minutes per sheet, this virtually eliminates machine idle time.
Each pallet provides a full T-slot table surface with approximately 5,000 lb capacity. The dual-pallet configuration roughly doubles the floor space requirement compared to the standard SR-4020, so facility planning is critical. At approximately 15,422 kg (34,000 lb), this is a heavy machine requiring proper foundation work.
The SR-4020P represents the top of the Haas sheet router lineup. For shops running production volumes of large-format sheet stock — aerospace skin panels, marine composite panels, architectural aluminum — the pallet system transforms a capable sheet router into a continuous production cell. Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Dual-pallet shuttle enables continuous production on oversize sheet stock with virtually zero idle time
- 160x80-inch cutting envelope per pallet handles the largest sheet sizes in the Haas router lineup
- 30 HP 15,000 RPM spindle delivers production mill-grade cutting authority
- Consistent fixturing across both pallets ensures uniform part quality throughout production runs
- 1,200 ipm rapids minimize positioning time across the machine's 13+ feet of X travel
- NGC control manages pallet exchange automatically within the CNC program
Limitations
- Massive footprint — dual-pallet configuration roughly doubles the floor space requirement of the standard SR-4020
- 34,000 lb machine weight demands reinforced foundation and significant rigging effort
- 6 inches of Z travel limits work strictly to sheet-thickness applications
- Highest cost in the SR series — requires production volume to justify the pallet system premium

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Base price starts around $215,000. With through-spindle coolant, probing, and production options, expect $245,000-$275,000. The P adds approximately $25,000-$35,000 over the standard SR-4020.
02
The improvement depends on load/unload time relative to cutting time. On large-format sheet work where loading and fixturing takes 10-15 minutes, the pallet system can increase effective output by 20-40% over a full shift. The shorter the cutting cycle relative to load time, the greater the benefit.
03
The dual-pallet system roughly doubles the machine's floor space requirement compared to the standard SR-4020. Plan for approximately 10-12 meters (33-40 ft) of length and 5-6 meters (16-20 ft) of width, plus operator access and material staging areas.
04
Yes. Each pallet can carry different fixtures and run different programs. This is useful for high-mix environments where you alternate between two different sheet configurations without changeover time.
