Alzmetall GS 1000/3 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Alzmetall GS 1000/3 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Alzmetall or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Alzmetall GS 1000/3 is a 3-axis vertical machining center with 800 × 800 × 600 mm (31.5 × 31.5 × 23.6 in) of travel, an HSK-A63 spindle and a table that carries 1,800 kg (3,968 lb) including the clamping set-up.

It is the 3-axis counterpart of Alzmetall's 5-axis machine of the same size. The GS 1000/5-T is rated for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), which makes the 1,800 kg here 80% higher. Spindle taper, magazine and standard control are the same on both. What the GS 1000/3 leaves out is the swivel and rotary axes, so a part that needs machining on several sides has to be re-clamped, and the listed figures name no rotary device for this model.

X and Y are equal at 800 mm, so the working field is square: a part can be as deep as it is wide. That suits plates, die sets and fixtures that hold parts in a grid. Both the X-Y carriage and the Z axis have 4-fold linear guidance, and the frame is grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron, which fits the heavy table rating.

The chain magazine holds 33 tools as standard. For longer tool lists Alzmetall offers a twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions or a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions. Heidenhain TNC 7 is the standard control, Siemens SINUMERIK ONE the option. High-pressure coolant up to 80 bar is optional, and the measuring options are an infrared 3D touch probe and a tool setting system.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load of 1,800 kg (3,968 lb) including the clamping set-up, 80% above the 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) of the GS 1000/5-T
  • Square working field: 800 mm (31.5 in) in X and in Y, with 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z
  • 4-fold linear guidance for the X-Y carriage and the Z axis in a grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron frame
  • HSK-A63 spindle and 33-tool chain magazine, matching the GS 1000/5-T so tooling is interchangeable
  • Tool capacity can be raised to 150 positions (twin chain magazine) or 250 positions (rack-type magazine)

Limitations

  • Three axes only: the swivel (A) and rotary (C) axes of the GS 1000/5-T are not part of this machine
  • HSK-A63 is the listed taper even though the table takes 1,800 kg (3,968 lb); no larger interface appears for this model
  • The standard magazine has 33 places, and both larger magazines are listed as options, not standard equipment
  • No spindle speed, power or torque is given in the listed figures, and 80 bar coolant is an option

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is the GS 1000/3 a 5-axis machine?

No. The GS 1000/3 has 3 axes: X, Y and Z at 800 × 800 × 600 mm (31.5 × 31.5 × 23.6 in). The 5-axis machine with the same travels is the GS 1000/5-T, which is rated for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) on its table against 1,800 kg (3,968 lb) on the GS 1000/3.

02 How heavy a workpiece can the GS 1000/3 take?

The table is rated for 1,800 kg (3,968 lb), and Alzmetall states that the figure includes the clamping set-up. Subtract the weight of vises, plates or fixtures to get the part weight. The listed figures give no table dimensions, so check the clamping surface against the footprint of a part that heavy.

03 What tooling does the GS 1000/3 use?

HSK-A63 holders in a chain magazine with 33 tools. A twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions and a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions are listed as options. A tool setting system is available as a measuring option, alongside a 3D touch probe with infrared transmission.

04 Which controls are available on the GS 1000/3?

Heidenhain TNC 7 is standard and Siemens SINUMERIK ONE is the listed option. These are the same two controls listed for the 5-axis GS 1000/5-T, which helps a shop that runs both machines keep one programming environment.
