Alzmetall GS 1000/5-T — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Alzmetall GS 1000/5-T that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Alzmetall or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Alzmetall GS 1000/5-T is a 5-axis machining center built around a square working field: 800 mm (31.5 in) in both X and Y, with 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z. The spindle interface is HSK-A63 and the standard table load is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) including the clamping set-up.

Two rows set it apart from the smaller GS models. First, the table rating can be raised: Alzmetall lists a 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) option, 50% above the standard figure. Second, the X-Y carriage and the Z axis both run on 4-fold linear guidance, where the GS 800/5-T has 2-fold guidance on its X-Y carriage. The GS 800/5-T already offers 800 mm of Y travel but only 500 kg (1,102 lb) on the table, so the step up is about load and guidance more than reach.

The standard tool store is a chain magazine with 33 pockets. That is modest for 5-axis work on mixed parts, and the listed expansions are large: a twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions, or a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions. Decide this at order, because the magazine sets how many jobs can stay tooled up at once.

Three machines share these travels. The GS 1000/5-FDT has the same table load and magazine with an HSK-T63 spindle. The GS 1000/3 has three axes instead of five and carries 1,800 kg (3,968 lb). The GS 1000/5-T is the one to pick for milling a part from several sides with HSK-A63 tooling.

Its A and C axes, an NC swivel axis and a rotary axis, have 3-fold torque drives. Heidenhain TNC 7 is the standard control and Siemens SINUMERIK ONE the alternative. High-pressure coolant up to 80 bar, kinematics gauging, the infrared 3D touch probe and the tool setting system are options.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) including the clamping set-up, with a 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) option that is 50% higher
  • Square 800 × 800 mm (31.5 × 31.5 in) X-Y travel with 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z
  • 4-fold linear guidance on both the X-Y carriage and the Z axis
  • Magazine can grow from 33 tools to a twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions or a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions
  • HSK-A63 tooling in common with the GS 1200/5-T and the GS 1000/3

Limitations

  • The standard chain magazine holds 33 tools, fewer than the 45 on the GS 1200/5-T
  • The 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) table rating is an option; the standard figure is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) and it includes the clamping set-up
  • 80 bar high-pressure coolant is an option, and so are kinematics gauging, the touch probe and the tool setting system
  • No spindle speed, power or torque appears in the listed figures, and no swivel range for the A axis

5-axis milling of parts inside 800 × 800 × 600 mm (31.5 × 31.5 × 23.6 in) Workpieces with fixtures up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), or 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) with the option Square or round parts that need equal reach in X and Y Varied part mixes using the 150- or 250-position magazine options

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the table load of the GS 1000/5-T?

1,000 kg (2,205 lb) as standard, and Alzmetall states that this includes the clamping set-up. A higher rating of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) is listed as an option. If your heaviest part plus fixture falls between the two figures, the option has to be on the order; the listed figures do not say whether it can be added later.

02 How do the GS 1000/5-T and the GS 1000/5-FDT differ?

In the spindle taper. The GS 1000/5-T has HSK-A63 and the GS 1000/5-FDT has HSK-T63. Both are listed with a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table load including the clamping set-up, a chain magazine with 33 tools and Heidenhain TNC 7 as the standard control.

03 How many tools can the GS 1000/5-T carry?

The standard chain magazine has 33 places. Two options are listed: a twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions and a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions. Tool diameter, length and weight limits are not among the listed figures.

04 Should I choose the GS 1000/5-T or the GS 1000/3?

It depends on whether the parts need the rotary axes. The GS 1000/3 is a 3-axis machine with a table load of 1,800 kg (3,968 lb), 80% more than the 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) of the GS 1000/5-T. Both have HSK-A63 and a 33-tool chain magazine. Choose the GS 1000/5-T when parts must be reached from several sides in one clamping.

05 What are the fourth and fifth axes on the GS 1000/5-T?

An NC swivel axis (A) and a rotary axis (C), listed with 3-fold torque drives. The spec table gives no swivel range, speed or torque for them, so ask for those values if the work involves steep undercuts or heavy cuts with the A axis swivelled. Kinematics gauging, which checks the position of these axes, is a measuring option.
