Overview

The Akira Seiki SR45 XP is where the SR range gets its widest saddle. Y travel is 640 mm (25 in) and Z is 660 mm (26 in), with 1,150 mm (45.3 in) of X over a table 1,300 x 600 mm (51.1 x 23.6 in). The T-slots change as well, to 18 mm slots at 100 mm pitch.

A 600 mm deep table changes the kind of part that fits. Mould plates, square housings and fixtures with tombstone-style risers all need depth more than length, and the SR42 XP, at 540 mm (21.3 in) of Y, runs out first. Clearance under the spindle is 100-760 mm (4~30 in), so tall work and long drills are possible too.

Load capacity follows the bigger table: 1,300 kg (2,867 lb) standard, 1,560 kg (3,440 lb) maximum. The spindle does not change. It is the same BT40, 11,000 rpm, 18 HP (13.4 kW) peak unit used across the larger SR machines, fed from a 24T magazine.

Axes rapid at 30 / 30 / 25 m/min (1,181 / 1,181 / 984 ipm). The footprint is 3,450 x 2,495 mm (136 x 98 in), supply is 30 kVA, and the coolant tank is 350 L (92.5 gal). Chips are carried out by a chip screw.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 640 mm (25 in) of Y travel and a 600 mm deep table
  • 660 mm (26 in) of Z with up to 760 mm between spindle nose and table
  • Maximum table load of 1,560 kg (3,440 lb)
  • Positioning 0.01 mm (0.00039 in), repeatability ±0.003 mm (±0.00012 in)

Limitations

  • 18 HP (13.4 kW) peak is modest for a table that carries 1,560 kg (3,440 lb)
  • 11,000 rpm is the only spindle speed listed
  • Floor space grows to 3,450 x 2,495 mm (136 x 98 in)
  • The maker's table gives no adjacent-pocket tool diameter for this model

Best For

Mould bases and plates that need 640 mm (25 in) of Y Tall fixtures under 660 mm (26 in) of Z Heavy workpieces up to 1,300 kg (2,867 lb) standard load Square housings and manifold blocks

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What makes the SR45 XP different from the other SR models?

Its Y and Z travels. At 640 mm (25 in) and 660 mm (26 in) they are larger than on the SR42 XP, which has 540 mm (21.3 in) and 560 mm (22 in). Only the SR55 XP shares this wider frame, with 1,350 mm (53 in) of X.

02 How heavy a workpiece can the SR45 XP take?

Standard loading is 1,300 kg (2,867 lb) and maximum loading 1,560 kg (3,440 lb), on a 1,300 x 600 mm (51.1 x 23.6 in) table with five 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm pitch.

03 What spindle is fitted to the SR45 XP?

A BT40 spindle with 18 HP (13.4 kW) peak power and a maximum speed of 11,000 rpm. Tool change time is 2.2 s and the magazine holds 24T, with tools up to 250 mm (9.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb).

04 How much room does the SR45 XP need?

Dimensions are listed as 3,450 x 2,495 mm (136 x 98 in), width by depth. Add space for the chip screw discharge and for the operator. Power requirement is 30 kVA and air 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi).
