Akira Seiki V4XP — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Akira Seiki V4XP that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Akira Seiki or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Akira Seiki's V4XP is the one-metre machine of the V series, with 1,050 mm (41.3 in) of X travel and 560 mm (22 in) of Z above a 1,200 x 480 mm (47.2 x 19 in) table. One caution up front: the maker's page prints the Y travel of this model with millimetre and inch figures that do not agree, so that row is left out of the table here. Confirm Y with Akira Seiki before sizing a fixture.

The spindle is the series' 30 HP class unit. In the V version it is 30 HP (22.4 kW) peak at 10,000 rpm, in the XP version 35 HP (26.1 kW) at 12,000 rpm, with an 8,000 rpm spindle as an option. All are BT40.

A table this long is normally bought for multiple fixtures. Standard loading is 980 kg (2,160 lb) and maximum 1,176 kg (2,592 lb), spread over five 18 mm T-slots. The 28T magazine means one tool list can serve several different parts on the table at once, and each change takes 2.2 s.

Services are 30 kVA and 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi). Accuracy is listed as 0.01 mm (0.00039 in) positioning with ±0.003 mm (±0.00012 in) repeatability. The spindle centre stands 550 mm (21.7 in) from the column cover.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,050 mm (41.3 in) of X travel under a 30 HP class spindle
  • XP version: 35 HP (26.1 kW) peak and 12,000 rpm
  • Table 1,200 x 480 mm (47.2 x 19 in), rated to 1,176 kg (2,592 lb) maximum
  • 28T magazine with tools up to 250 mm (9.8 in) long

Limitations

  • The maker's Y-travel row for this model is inconsistent between mm and inch and could not be used
  • Coolant tank capacity is also printed with a typing error on the maker's page
  • Tool weight limit is 7 kg (15 lb)
  • Needs a 30 kVA electrical supply

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the Y travel of the V4XP?

The maker's table prints two figures for this row that do not convert into each other, so no Y travel is shown on this page. The V3XP and V5XP, which use the same 480 mm deep table style, list 540 mm (21.3 in); ask Akira Seiki to confirm the V4XP figure.

02 Which spindle options does the V4XP have?

The V version is listed at 30 HP (22.4 kW) peak and 10,000 rpm, the XP version at 35 HP (26.1 kW) peak and 12,000 rpm, and there is an 8,000 rpm option. The taper is BT40 in every case.

03 How does the V4XP compare with the V4.5XP?

The V4.5XP is the deeper machine: 1,150 mm (45.3 in) of X, 640 mm (25 in) of Y and 660 mm (26 in) of Z on a 1,300 x 600 mm (51.1 x 23.6 in) table rated to 1,560 kg (3,439 lb) maximum. Spindle options and the 28T magazine are common to both.

04 How long a tool can the V4XP take?

Up to 250 mm (9.8 in), with a maximum diameter of 65 mm (2.6 in), or 130 mm (5.1 in) when the neighbouring pockets are empty, and a maximum weight of 7 kg (15 lb). Z travel is 560 mm (22 in).
