Akira Seiki SR2 XP — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Akira Seiki SR2 XP that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Akira Seiki or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A 700 x 380 mm (28 x 15 in) table under 550 mm (21.7 in) of X travel is what separates the Akira Seiki SR2 XP from the JR XP below it. Y and Z are unchanged at 430 mm (16.9 in) and 460 mm (18.1 in), and both machines stand on the same 2,400 x 1,935 mm (94 x 76 in) of floor. The extra X comes without a larger footprint.

Spindle power rises too. The SR2 XP has 15 HP (11.2 kW) peak against 12 HP (8.9 kW) on the JR XP, at the same 11,000 rpm and BT40 taper. The magazine grows from 16T to 20T. For a general job shop that is the more useful step: four more pockets often decide whether a part runs in one setup.

Rapid traverse is 36 / 36 / 30 m/min (1,417 / 1,417 / 1,181 ipm) and cutting feed 12 / 12 / 10 m/min (472 / 472 / 394 ipm). Those are quick axes for a machine of this size, and the 2.2 s tool change keeps pace with them.

The table carries 480 kg (1,058 lb) as a standard load and 576 kg (1,270 lb) at most, on four 16 mm T-slots. Services are 20 kVA and 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi) of air. Coolant capacity is 150 L (39.6 gal), which is small, so expect to top up often on long aluminium runs.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 550 mm (21.7 in) of X travel on a 2,400 x 1,935 mm (94 x 76 in) footprint
  • 15 HP (11.2 kW) peak at 11,000 rpm through a BT40 taper
  • Rapids of 36 / 36 / 30 m/min (1,417 / 1,417 / 1,181 ipm)
  • 20T magazine with a 2.2 s tool change
  • Runs on a 20 kVA supply with 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi) air

Limitations

  • Coolant tank is only 150 L (39.6 gal)
  • Y travel of 430 mm (16.9 in) is short against the 540 mm (21.3 in) of the SR32 XP
  • Adjacent tools are limited to 75 mm (3 in) in diameter
  • The table lists no spindle torque figure

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the SR2 XP?

550 mm (21.7 in) in X, 430 mm (16.9 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.1 in) in Z. The table is 700 x 380 mm (28 x 15 in) and the spindle nose sits 75~535 mm (3~21 in) above it.

02 How fast are the axes on the SR2 XP?

Rapid traverse is listed as 36 / 36 / 30 m/min (1,417 / 1,417 / 1,181 ipm) for X / Y / Z, and cutting feed as 12 / 12 / 10 m/min (472 / 472 / 394 ipm). Tool change time is 2.2 s, tool to tool.

03 Is the SR2 XP or the SR3 XP the better fit for longer parts?

The SR3 XP, which has 762 mm (30 in) of X travel and a 910 x 380 mm (36 x 15 in) table with the same spindle, the same 20T magazine and the same Y and Z travels. The SR2 XP is the choice when parts stay inside 550 mm (21.7 in).

04 What tools fit the SR2 XP magazine?

The magazine holds 20T. A tool can be 75 mm (3 in) in diameter with neighbours in place or 150 mm (5.9 in) with the adjacent pockets empty, up to 250 mm (9.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb) in weight.
