How much does the You Ji VLM850 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the You Ji VLM850 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The You Ji VLM850 is the all-linear-way version of You Ji's 850-class vertical machining center: X, Y and Z each run on linear guide ways. It is aimed at lighter, quicker cutting than the box-way VMC850 that shares its dimensions.
Rolling guides have little friction to overcome, so an axis reverses cleanly at low feed and follows a contour without the lag a sliding way can show. That helps 3D surfacing, pocketing with small step-overs and any job dominated by non-cutting moves. The trade is damping. Heavy, chattering cuts are better served by the VMC850, or by the VTM850, which keeps a box way on Z alone.
Figures in the table: 850 mm (33.5 in) of X-axis travel, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z, a 1,000 x 550 mm (39.4 x 21.7 in) table and a BT-40 spindle at 8,000 rpm. For a linear-way machine that speed is moderate. It points to steel and cast parts with ordinary tooling more than to high-speed aluminium work.
The short VLM table leaves out feed rates, accelerations, tool capacity and motor power. Outside dimensions are 2,450 x 3,780 mm (96.5 x 148.8 in) on the floor and 3,030 mm (119.3 in) in height, identical to the box-way machine, so switching between series does not change the layout.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Linear guide ways on X, Y and Z for smooth reversals and contouring
- Same 850 x 600 x 600 mm (33.5 x 23.6 x 23.6 in) envelope as the box-way VMC850
- BT-40 spindle listed at 8,000 rpm
- Footprint of 2,450 x 3,780 mm (96.5 x 148.8 in)
Limitations
- 8,000 rpm is modest for a machine meant for fast, light cutting
- Linear guides on Z take drilling thrust less well than the box way of the VTM850
- Rapid traverse and feed rates are not published
- No size above 1,100 in the VLM series

Frequently Asked Questions
01
In You Ji's key, VLM is the vertical machining center with linear guide ways on the X, Y and Z axes. VTM has linear ways on X and Y with a box way on Z, and VMC has box ways on all three.
02
850 mm (33.5 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) in Z. The distance from the spindle nose to the table is 100-700 mm (3.9-27.6 in) and the table is 1,000 x 550 mm (39.4 x 21.7 in).
03
The catalogue does not say. Both are listed with the same 8,000 rpm BT-40 spindle, and neither table prints rapid traverse or cutting feed rates. The difference documented is the guide way type, so ask You Ji for the axis rates of each.
04
Machine height is 3,030 mm (119.3 in). Floor space is 2,450 x 3,780 mm (96.5 x 148.8 in). The longer VLM1100 is the same height and width with 4,180 mm (164.6 in) in the long direction.
