Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Yasda YBM 8T that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
An 800 mm square table and 1,100 mm (43.3 in) of Z travel place the Yasda YBM 8T in the middle of the precision center range. X travel is 1,300 mm (51.2 in) and Y is 1,000 mm (39.4 in). Yasda gives it the same short description as its siblings: a mother machine with excellent thermal stability and durability.
The long Z is what stands out against the smaller YBM 7T, which has 800 mm. On a horizontal machine Z is the axis that feeds a boring bar into the part, and 1,100 mm lets a bar pass through a deep housing or reach the far wall of a large casting from one side. That saves an index of the table, and with it one source of alignment error between bores.
Y travel can be ordered in two lengths. The base stroke is 1,000 mm, with a machine height of 3,495 mm (137.6 in); the extended stroke is 1,250 mm, and the height becomes 3,745 mm (147.4 in). Z can be extended to a total of 1,400 mm. Tall parts on angle plates are the reason to take the longer Y, and the building has to allow for it.
Spindles match those of the YBM 7T: 50-10,000 min-1 on MAS BT50 as the base, a 60-6,000 min-1 high-torque option, a 60-15,000 min-1 high-speed option, and a 200-20,000 min-1 spindle with MAS BT40. The machine comes with 60 tools and 2 pallets. Tool storage of 90 tools or 120-450 tools and a 6PLS APC are options. The control is a FANUC 31i-B5 Plus.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,300 x 1,000 x 1,100 mm of travel around an 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in) table
- Z travel of 1,100 mm (43.3 in), extendable to 1,400 mm total length
- Y stroke available as 1,000 mm or 1,250 mm
- Base, high-torque and two high-speed spindles to choose from
- 2 pallets standard; 6PLS and up to 120-450 tools optional
Limitations
- Machine height rises to 3,745 mm (147.4 in) with the 1,250 mm Y stroke
- The 200-20,000 min-1 spindle uses MAS BT40 and not the BT50 of the other spindles
- 60 tools in the base magazine may be short for a multi-pallet cell
- Table load is not given on the product page
