Yasda YBM 15T — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Yasda YBM 15T that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Yasda Precision or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Yasda YBM 15T is the maker's largest mother machine. Its table is 1,500 mm square, and Yasda states a workpiece of 12 tons for it. Travels are 2,100 mm (82.7 in) in X, 1,800 mm (70.9 in) in Y and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) in Z, and there is a fourth linear axis, W, with 300 mm (11.8 in).

Everything about the machine is scaled for castings of that weight. The base spindle is a slow one, 30-2,800 min-1 on MAS BT50, a range meant for large-diameter boring and facing tools. The page gives W as a fourth travel of 300 mm without describing it further. On machines of this kind W is normally a second feed along the spindle direction, used to reach into deep bores; confirm the arrangement with Yasda.

Faster spindles are options. One runs 60-6,000 min-1 and is listed as the high-torque spindle; the other, the high-speed spindle, runs 50-10,000 min-1, which is the base spindle range of the YBM 10T. Which of the three suits depends on whether the work is mostly large bores in iron or includes milling and smaller holes.

Stroke extension takes X to a total of 3,000 mm, Y to 2,100 mm, Z to 1,800 mm and W to 400 mm. Height is the practical limit. The machine stands 5,185 mm (204.1 in) with the 1,800 mm Y stroke and 5,490 mm (216.1 in) with the 2,100 mm stroke, so crane height and foundation are part of the purchase. Two pallets and 60 tools are standard, with a 5PLS APC and 90 tools or 120-450 tools as options. The control is a FANUC 31i-B5 Plus.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,500 x 1,500 mm (59.1 x 59.1 in) table, with a 12 tons workpiece stated by Yasda
  • Travels of 2,100 x 1,800 x 1,500 mm plus a 300 mm (11.8 in) W axis
  • Stroke extension up to X 3,000 mm, Y 2,100 mm, Z 1,800 mm and W 400 mm total length
  • Three spindle ranges: 30-2,800, 60-6,000 or 50-10,000 min-1, all MAS BT50
  • 2 pallets as standard on a machine of this size

Limitations

  • Machine height of 5,185 mm (204.1 in), or 5,490 mm (216.1 in) with the 2,100 mm Y stroke
  • The base spindle tops out at 2,800 min-1
  • 60 tools in the base magazine
  • Foundation, crane and building height all have to be planned around the machine
06

Best For

Very large castings up to 12 tons Large-diameter precision boring with the 30-2,800 min-1 spindle Machine-tool beds, columns and large housings Deep work that uses the 300 mm W travel

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large a workpiece does the Yasda YBM 15T take?

Yasda describes the machine as realizing the highest machining accuracy for a workpiece of 12 tons on the 1,500 mm square table. Travels are 2,100 mm in X, 1,800 mm in Y and 1,500 mm in Z.

02 What is the W axis on the YBM 15T?

A fourth linear axis. The base specification gives travel as X/Y/Z/W with 300 mm (11.8 in) for W, and the stroke extension option brings W to a total of 400 mm.

03 What spindle speeds does the YBM 15T offer?

The base spindle runs 30-2,800 min-1 with MAS BT50. The optional high-torque spindle is listed at 60-6,000 min-1 and the optional high-speed spindle at 50-10,000 min-1, both MAS BT50.

04 How tall is the YBM 15T?

5,185 mm (204.1 in) with the 1,800 mm Y stroke and 5,490 mm (216.1 in) with the 2,100 mm Y stroke. The smaller YBM 10T stands 4,125 mm, so a building laid out for that machine will not necessarily take this one.
