How much does the WardJet M-5040 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the WardJet M-5040 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Five metres by four: the WARDJet M-5040 has a cutting area of 196.8" x 157.2" (5 m x 4 m), twice the length of the M-2540 on the same 4 m beam. That is long enough to hold two sheets end to end, each the size of the M-2540's whole table.
That layout is the working idea of the machine. With three Z-carriages available, one sheet can be cut while the other is unloaded and replaced, or several heads can run the same nest on both. WARDJet describes the M-Series as designed for multiple sheets of material or large individual components, with heads that can be parked off to the side when a job needs the whole area for one or two of them.
Speed is what makes a table this long practical. The precision ground helical rack and pinion gives a range of 0.01 in/min - 2000 in/min (0.25 mm/min - 50.8 m/min), so moves between the two sheets cost little time. Repeatability is ±0.001" per axis (±0.0254 mm per axis). Z-axis travel is 12" (0.3 m).
The footprint is 23' x 20' 4" (7 m x 6.2 m). Abrasive comes from a SmartFeed 400/ Axxiom 1000lb Hopper (450 kg), and with three heads drawing from it, hopper refills are worth scheduling. The gantry needs 230V 30 amps, Three Phase. MOVE software, standard on the series, handles part queueing.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 196.8" x 157.2" (5 m x 4 m) cutting area for two sheets end to end
- Up to 3 Z-carriages with programmable head spacing
- 2000 in/min (50.8 m/min) top speed on a precision ground helical rack and pinion
- Mid-rail design for loading from all sides
Limitations
- Takes a 23' x 20' 4" (7 m x 6.2 m) floor area
- A single 1000lb (450 kg) bulk hopper is listed for up to three heads
- Accuracy is stated per 3ft. (0.9m), not over the full 5 m travel
- No pump figures in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
196.8" x 157.2" (5 m x 4 m) for one carriage, with 12" (0.3 m) of Z-axis travel. The machine's footprint is 23' x 20' 4" (7 m x 6.2 m).
02
The beam and all motion figures are the same; the length changes. The M-2540 has a 98.2" x 157.2" (2.5 m x 4 m) cutting area and the M-7540 has 295" x 157.2" (7.5 m x 4 m), against 196.8" x 157.2" (5 m x 4 m) here.
03
WARDJet's guidance for the M-Series is to park one of the heads to the side so the full cutting area can be used with one or two other heads, and to program different head spacing to match each job. The table lists a maximum of 3 Z-carriages.
04
The speed range is 0.01 in/min - 2000 in/min (0.25 mm/min - 50.8 m/min). Repeatability is ±0.001" per axis (±0.0254 mm per axis), and linear positional accuracy is ±0.003" per 3ft. per axis (± 0.08 mm per 0.9m per axis).
