Jet Edge Jet Start 510A5

Bevels are what the Jet Edge Jet Start 510A5 adds. It is the 5-axis member of the Jet Start pair, a packaged abrasive waterjet on a 5 ft x 10 ft (1,524 x 3,048 mm) mid rail table whose Permalign Arrow SL head tilts to cut bevels to 60° and, in the maker's words, taper free. A water only head, the OmniJet Arrow SL, is the alternative.

Weld preparations, countersinks and chamfered edges can therefore come off the table finished, and the same tilt is what removes the natural taper of a jet from a square edge. The head rides a servo driven Z carriage with 12 in (304 mm) of vertical travel, so height is a programmed axis here and not a setting.

Everything else in the bundle matches the 3-axis Jet Start 510A: an isolated catch tank with slat kit, the Aquavision DI industrial PC controller with handheld pendant, IGEMS CAD/CAM with the nesting upgrade, and an 800 lb (363 kg) solid phase bulk hopper. Stated accuracy is also the same, ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) linear positional accuracy over 12 in (304 mm) per axis with ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm) bidirectional repeatability.

The HERO 50 pump is rated at 60,000 psi (4,100 bar) and 50 hp (37.3 kW). Its 1.1 gpm (4.1 lpm) flow supports an orifice up to 0.015 in (0.38 mm). Bevel cuts pass through more material than the plate thickness suggests, so on thick plate at steep angles the pump, not the head, decides how fast the cut goes. Options include a lights-out package, laser surface mapping, a contact height sensor, splash shields and an abrasive removal system; the pump can be ordered with HERO 50+ controls, a redundant intensifier or a boost pump.
