Overview
The WARDJet M-2540 is a mid-rail gantry waterjet with a 98.2" x 157.2" (2.5 m x 4 m) cutting area, room for 3 Z-carriages and a speed range that runs to 2000 in/min (50.8 m/min). It is the 2.5 m by 4 m size of the M-Series.
Two things set it apart from the ballscrew X-2540, which has the same 98.2" x 157.2" (2.5 m x 4 m) cutting area. The first is the drive: a precision ground helical rack and pinion in place of screws, which is where the higher traverse speed comes from. The second is the third head position. WARDJet's approach to multi-head cutting on this series is to park one head at the side so the remaining one or two can still reach the full cutting area, and to program head spacing job by job.
Positioning figures are close to the ballscrew machines: ±0.003" per 3ft. per axis (± 0.08 mm per 0.9m per axis) accuracy and ±0.001" per axis (±0.0254 mm per axis) repeatability. Z-axis travel is 12" (0.3 m).
