CMS Tecnocut Aquatec — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS Tecnocut Aquatec that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS Tecnocut Aquatec is a hydro-abrasive waterjet cutting system built as a mobile gantry on separate steel shoulders, in 3-axis or 5-axis form. Three models are listed, 2030, 2040 and 6030, and the largest has a workable area of 6000x3000 mm (236x118 in).

What stands out in the table is the Z axis travel of 650 mm (25 in). Flat-sheet waterjets rarely need that much height. Here it serves the 5-axis head, which tilts ±60° in B around an infinite C axis and so can follow formed parts, tubes and three-dimensional trims as well as bevel plate edges. CMS states that the 5-axis version performs 3D cuts.

The gantry runs on tracks anchored to the ground and is driven through tempered and ground racks by brushless motors. Rapid traverse is 54 m/min in X and Y with 2 m/s2 of acceleration, and 12.6 m/min in Z. The rotary axes are quick, at 17299 °/min for B and 13400 °/min for C.

Because the shoulders stand apart from the tank, 2 or 4 sides of the worktable stay free. That makes sheet loading by crane or forklift simpler and leaves room for handling equipment. Plan the floor space early: overall dimensions are 5886x4039 mm (232x159 in) without light barriers for the 2030 and 2040, and 8195x6832 mm (323x269 in) for the 6030. Pump pressure and power are not in the table.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Z axis travel of 650 mm (25 in) for 3D parts under the 5-axis head
  • B axis of ±60° with an infinite C axis
  • Rapid traverse of 54 m/min in X and Y
  • 2 or 4 sides of the worktable left free for loading
  • Workable area of 6000x3000 mm (236x118 in) on the 6030

Limitations

  • Z rapid traverse of 12.6 m/min is slow next to the 54 m/min of X and Y
  • Gantry rests on tracks anchored to the ground, so the installation is permanent
  • The 6030 needs 8195x6832 mm (323x269 in) of floor before light barriers are added
  • No pump pressure, flow or cutting accuracy is listed with the machine

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What models of the Tecnocut Aquatec are there?

Three: 2030, 2040 and 6030. X axis travel is 3800 mm (149 in), 4020 mm (158 in) and 3000 mm (118 in) respectively. Y axis travel is 2650 mm (104 in) on the 2030 and 2040 and 6650 mm (262 in) on the 6030. Z is 650 mm (25 in) on all three.

02 Is the Aquatec a 5-axis waterjet?

CMS describes it as a 3 and 5-axes hydro-abrasive waterjet cutting system. The table lists a B axis of ±60° and an infinite C axis, and CMS states that the 5-axis version can perform 3D cuts with high precision and repeatability.

03 How fast does it move?

Rapids are 54 m/min in X and Y and 12.6 m/min in Z, with accelerations of 2 m/s2 and 1 m/s2. The B axis moves at 17299 °/min and the C axis at 13400 °/min.

04 How much floor space does it need?

Overall dimensions are 5886x4039 mm (232x159 in) without light barriers for the 2030 and 2040 and 8195x6832 mm (323x269 in) without light barriers for the 6030. Allow extra room for the light barriers and for loading equipment.
