Overview
The Palmary PCB-6025GF-4 is the 255 mm wheel version of Palmary's two-slide CNC centerless grinder for long bar. It grinds Ø2 to Ø100 mm as standard with a Ø610 mm wheel and a 40 HP (29.8 kW) motor.
Bar grinding is a through-feed business, and through-feed rate follows wheel width. With 255 mm of grinding zone instead of the 205 mm of the PCB-6020GF-4, the same stock comes off at a higher bar speed, or more stock at the same speed. Here the motor is big enough for the wider wheel to be used fully, which is not true of every wide-wheel variant in Palmary's range.
The machine has four CNC axes and feeds from both sides. The grinding wheel unit sits on a square slide and the regulating wheel unit on a dovetail slide, both with ball screw and reducer, and the work rest between them is fixed. Palmary's reasoning is stability: a rest that never moves keeps its accuracy.
The regulating wheel is Ø330 mm by 255 mm, driven by a 3 kW (4.0 hp) servo at 10 to 200 rpm, with ±5° of tilt for through-feed.
