Overview
The largest MB is the Vision Wide MB-4020. It has 4,100 mm (161.4 in) of X travel, 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y, and a 4,100×1,700 mm (161.4×66.9 in) table for 12,000 kg (26,455 lb), on box ways throughout.
Four metres is where the series adds an X-axis ball screw supporter, standard for X travels above 4m. Together with the ball screw cooling system fitted to every MB, it keeps the long screw straight and at a steady temperature. On a sliding-way axis the screw works harder than on rolling guides, because friction is higher, so both measures count for more here.
The series description gathers the rest: hand-scraped box ways, gibs lubricated directly, a one-piece gear head with JIS0 gears, a head balanced by twin hydraulic cylinders, and a side-mounted magazine with a cam-type ATC.
It is a slow, strong machine by intent. Rapid traverse is 12 m/min in X and Y and 15 m/min in Z, with cutting feed of 1-7,000 mm/min.
