Overview
The Trumpf TruLaser Series 3000 Bevel Cut Edition takes the proven TruLaser 3000 platform and adds a tilting cutting head capable of producing bevel cuts at angles up to +/-50 degrees. This is a purpose-built solution for fabricators who need weld-preparation bevels, countersinks, and chamfers cut directly on the laser -- eliminating secondary grinding and machining operations that add cost and lead time to welded assemblies.
The Bevel Cut Edition is available in three working area configurations: the 3040 at 4,002 x 2,099 mm, the 3060 at 6,067 x 2,576 mm, and the 3080 at 8,037 x 2,576 mm standard working areas. When cutting at a 50-degree bevel angle, the effective working area reduces -- the 3040 drops to 3,355 x 1,600 mm, the 3060 to 5,420 x 2,077 mm, and the 3080 to 7,470 x 2,077 mm.
Power comes from a 12 kW TruFiber 12001 solid-state laser. At standard perpendicular cutting, the machine handles 30 mm mild steel (35 mm with thick-sheet package), 40 mm stainless (50 mm with package), 30 mm aluminum, and 12.7 mm copper and brass. At a 50-degree bevel angle, capacity is 15 mm mild steel and 10 mm stainless steel. Maximum simultaneous positioning speed is 170 m/min.
The bevel cutting head is fully integrated into the Trumpf control platform and TruTops Boost CAM software. Bevel angles, start and stop positions, and weld-prep geometry are programmed offline with automatic collision checking. The machine supports all standard TruLaser 3000 technology features including BrightLine fiber, CoolLine, Highspeed Eco, and NanoJoints.
This machine directly addresses the workflow bottleneck in structural steel, pressure vessel, and heavy fabrication shops where weld preparation consumes significant secondary labor. By cutting bevels and V-groove weld preps at the laser, shops eliminate a full downstream operation, improve bevel angle consistency, and reduce part handling between workstations.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Bevel cutting head tilts up to +/-50 degrees, enabling weld-prep bevels, chamfers, and countersinks directly on the laser without secondary operations
- 12 kW TruFiber laser delivers full TruLaser 3000 series cutting capability for both flat and bevel cuts across mild steel, stainless, and aluminum
- Three working area sizes (3040, 3060, 3080) cover standard to oversized sheet formats for structural and heavy fabrication applications
- Full compatibility with BrightLine fiber, CoolLine, and Highspeed Eco technologies carries over all the advantages of the standard 3000 series
- Eliminates downstream grinding and beveling operations, reducing labor costs, improving bevel angle consistency, and shortening lead times on welded assemblies
- TruTops Boost CAM software handles offline bevel programming with automatic collision checking, minimizing setup complexity for angled cuts
Limitations
- Working area reduces significantly at steep bevel angles -- the 3040 loses 647 mm in X and 499 mm in Y at 50 degrees, impacting nesting efficiency
- Bevel cutting capacity is limited to 15 mm mild steel and 10 mm stainless at 50 degrees, well below the flat-cut maximums
- Premium pricing over the standard TruLaser 3000 series for the bevel cutting head adds significant cost for shops that only occasionally need bevel cuts
- Bevel cut edge quality at steep angles on thick material may still require secondary finishing for critical weld joints in code-governed applications

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The cutting head tilts up to +/-50 degrees from perpendicular, enabling V-grooves, Y-grooves, K-grooves, chamfers, and countersinks. The angle is CNC-controlled and programmable within the TruTops Boost software.
02
At 50 degrees, the machine cuts up to 15 mm mild steel and 10 mm stainless steel, compared to 30 mm and 40 mm respectively for flat perpendicular cuts. For moderate bevel angles (20-30 degrees), capacity is closer to flat-cut maximums.
03
No. When the head is at 0 degrees, the machine performs identically to a standard TruLaser 3000 series with the same 170 m/min positioning speed and maximum material thicknesses.
04
The TruLaser Series 3000 Bevel Cut Edition is the current-generation designation encompassing three machine sizes (3040, 3060, 3080) with the tilting cutting head as a standard feature.
