How much does the STM Cube cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the STM Cube that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The STM Cube is a fully enclosed small-format waterjet: a hood-covered machine with standard work surfaces of 1 m x 1 m, 1 m x 1.5 m and 1 m x 2 m, a traversing speed of max. 15 m/min and a Z-axis clearance of 100 mm. STM positions it for research and educational institutions and for mechanical manufacturing where noise, splash and safety matter more than table area.
Everything about the model follows from the housing. A safety enclosure with an automatic door surrounds the cutting area, which STM says brings a significant noise reduction and keeps spray inside the machine. The safety door opens upwards and backwards, so the table can still be loaded by crane. Under the hood, STM states that the Cube has all the technical specifications of the MasterCut: recirculating ball bearing guides on X and Y, brushless servo motors, a CNC Z-axis and a NUM CNC control with STM SmartCut software.
The enclosure costs height. Z-axis clearance is 100 mm, half the 200 mm of the STM MasterCut, so the Cube is a machine for sheet, plate and small blocks. Supports are rated for workpieces up to 1,000 kg/m². The product page gives positioning accuracy of ± 0.10 mm and repeatability of ± 0.08 mm per meter at 20°C; the 2024 data sheet for this model prints no accuracy rows.
The 2024 data sheet quotes the working surfaces slightly larger than the product page, as 1.05 m x 1.05 m, 1.05 m x 1.55 m and 1.05 m x 2.05 m, and STM builds other sizes on request. Options are close to the MasterCut's list: the STM TAC 12° bevel cut compensation head, a manual rotary holder for bevel cuts up to 48°, an abrasive storage tank for 450 kg or 1,650 kg, automatic water level control and a pneumatic drilling spindle.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fully enclosed: a safety enclosure with automatic door gives noise insulation and splash protection
- The safety door opens upwards and backwards, so loading by crane remains possible
- Compact standard work surfaces of 1 m x 1 m, 1 m x 1.5 m and 1 m x 2 m
- Carries the technical specification of the STM MasterCut, including the NUM CNC control and brushless servo motors
- Supports rated for workpieces up to 1,000 kg/m² despite the small footprint
- STM TAC 12° head available for bevel cut compensation
Limitations
- Z-axis clearance is only 100 mm, half the 200 mm of the STM MasterCut
- Standard tables stop at 1 m x 2 m; larger formats are on request only
- The 2024 data sheet gives no accuracy figures, and the product page's ± 0.10 mm differs from the MasterCut data sheet the Cube is said to share
- No 3D head is listed; bevels come from the TAC 12° option or a manual holder up to 48°

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The housing and the size. STM states that the Cube has all the technical specifications of the MasterCut and adds a hood cover with an automatic safety door, for noise insulation, cleanliness and splash protection. It is built in small formats, 1 m x 1 m, 1 m x 1.5 m and 1 m x 2 m as standard, and its Z-axis clearance is 100 mm where the STM MasterCut has 200 mm.
02
The product page lists three standard work surfaces: 1 m x 1 m, 1 m x 1.5 m and 1 m x 2 m. The 2024 data sheet gives the working surfaces as, for example, 1.05 m x 1.05 m, 1.05 m x 1.55 m and 1.05 m x 2.05 m. STM also offers other sizes on request, since the machines are built from a modular system.
03
Yes. STM says the safety door can be opened upwards and backwards to allow loading by crane. In normal running the automatic door closes off the cutting area. Supports are rated for workpieces up to 1,000 kg/m², so the limit on what goes in is usually the table size and the 100 mm Z-axis clearance, not the weight.
04
The product page lists positioning accuracy of ± 0.10 mm and repeatability of ± 0.08 mm, both per meter at 20°C. The 2024 data sheet for the Cube has no accuracy rows. Because STM says the Cube shares the MasterCut's specification, and the two MasterCut documents disagree on accuracy, it is worth asking STM to confirm the figure in writing.
