Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Flex Machine Tools FL-0404 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A square envelope defines the Flex Machine Tools FL-0404: this abrasive waterjet has 48″ of cutting travel in X, 48″ in Y and 10″ in Z. It runs a 30 HP pump rated at 60,000 PSI through a fixed conventional cutting head.
The size decides what kind of shop it suits. Stock longer than 48″ has to be cut down or repositioned before it fits the travel, so the machine makes most sense where parts come from blanks, offcuts and small plate, not from long nests on full sheets. For that kind of work the FL-1004 has the same 48″ of Y and 10″ of Z with 120″ of X. Above it, the F-1065 and FLX-1365 move to 78″ of Y and 12″ of Z.
Repeatability is listed at 0.001 in and ballbar circularity at less than 0.003 in. The head traverses at up to 600 in/min, and on axes this short the moves between features take little of the cycle. What sets the job time is the cut, and that depends on material and thickness, which the table does not cover.
A fixed conventional head cuts square to the sheet, and it is the only head in Flex's table for this model. Abrasive is fed from a 500 lb continuous-fill bulk hopper, with a 2500 lb continuous-fill hopper as the option for longer running between refills. Galvanized steel slats carry the work. The operator has a 22″ touch screen HMI on a roll-around control and a hand pendant, and the electrical supply is 3-phase, 480V.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Square 48″ × 48″ cutting travel with 10″ of Z
- 30 HP pump rated at 60,000 PSI
- Repeatability listed at 0.001 in, with ballbar circularity below 0.003 in
- Head traverses at up to 600 in/min, so repositioning across 48″ axes is quick
- 22″ touch screen HMI on a roll-around control, plus a hand pendant
Limitations
- X travel is 48″; the FL-1004 offers 120″ of X on the same 48″ of Y and 10″ of Z
- A fixed conventional cutting head is the only head listed, so there is no bevel capability in the table
- The 500 lb abrasive hopper is standard; the 2500 lb continuous-fill hopper is an option
- Requires 3-phase, 480V power, with no alternative supply listed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Cutting travel is 48″ in X and 48″ in Y, with 10″ of Z travel. Those are travel figures, so they describe the area the head can reach. Material longer than 48″ in either direction has to be cut down or repositioned. Flex's table does not list a table load or tank size for this model.
02
X travel. The FL-0404 has 48″ of X and the FL-1004 has 120″, with 48″ of Y and 10″ of Z on both. Both are operated from a 22″ touch screen HMI on a roll-around control with a hand pendant. Pick the FL-1004 if long sheet has to go on in one piece.
03
Not in the configuration Flex lists. The table gives a fixed conventional cutting head, which cuts square to the material, and no tilting head appears for this model. If bevels or weld preparations are part of the work, raise it with Flex before ordering.
04
A 3-phase, 480V electrical supply. The pump is 30 HP at 60,000 PSI. Abrasive comes from a 500 lb continuous-fill bulk hopper as standard, and a 2500 lb continuous-fill hopper is optional. The table does not state water or air requirements, so ask for the installation data when planning the site.
