Overview
The Reishauer RZ 800 grinds gears up to 800 mm in diameter on workpieces weighing as much as 1,200 kg with the fixture. Modules run from 0.5 to 10 mm and the number of teeth from 5 to 800, so one machine spans small pinions on heavy shafts through to large ring-type gears.
Capacity in diameter and weight is generous; capacity along the axis is tighter. Shaft length is limited to 700 mm and the maximum grinding stroke to 300 mm. Any gearing wider than the stroke allows, once run-in and run-out are added, is outside the machine regardless of how much diameter is spare. The wheel head swivels ± 45°.
The workpiece speed tops out at 600 min⁻¹ and the operating speed at 80 m/s. Both are lower than on the RZ 260, which is listed at 1600 min⁻¹ and 100 m/s but carries no more than 50 kg. The grinding wheel is up to 300 mm in outside diameter and 145 or 160 mm wide. Dressing tools are given as a range, 123 – 160 mm in diameter.
At 15,500 kg the RZ 800 weighs the same as the RZ 1000 and more than the RZ 550 at 12,900 kg. Reishauer's table for this model states neither the control nor the outside dimensions, so both have to come from the quotation before the installation is planned.
